what can i say a lot has happen shortly and with a trip to the docotor today and another shot into my spine and the fact that it is getting to be to much of a task to use a clutch after many tears and many ways of trying to figure out a way and a logical reason to keep this baby only to hardly ever drive it is just to heart breaking the ol girl needs an owner that with drive her and pamper her.

What i know is that it is a numbers matching convertible, with to the best of my knowledge has orginal interior, any pieces that came off the engine are here and go with the car, i have also collected a few things alot the way that are geared towards the LT-1 all of that with be included as well.  have a book that came with the car which has names. regisrtration, notes, even contact info, although do not know how acturate it is now.

Since i have owned it it has had a new clutch, master cylinder, i have a new 5 port washer not installed,

A few things things that need attention, buzzer comes on with door opens with ir with out key in car.  driver window is low at times keep up.

From what i can tell this is a high optioned vette.

It pains me to sell it but we have to do what is best for our families and lives at any given moment, i know you all under stand this, i would hope and i think i know the answer, that i would still be welcomed here, and also at the members meeting, even if i have no vette at this time.

price i have no clue, looking around the 40 mark

Say it ain't so, Larry?!?
Sorry to hear you have to make this decision....but you gotta do what ya gotta do, and we all unnerstand that...
What if you swapped the trans for an automatic? Would that make a difference?
I hope if ya do sell, it goes to someone that'll give it as much love and care as you have.
Good Luck with it, AND your medical issues. You KNOW you'll always be welcome here, or ANYWHERE C3VR is...

thanks joel i have thought about the tranny switch which would help with the leg and hip issue but not sure what it would do for the back, after an half hour to and hour i can barely stand it, and the back isn't bad enough for surgery, yet, well it just sucks being old and broken.

I am very sorry you have to sell such a beautiful car. $40K is a great price for it, I would not haggle if I were you. 70 LT1 verts are few and far between. Good luck!

Larry,
Sorry to hear about your problems. Personally I would start higher than 40k, LT1 verts are very desirable with not many made. Just my 2 cents.

Larry,
Hay man, sorry for all the new-old problems. Yes the 40K range is the right price. Maybe you can find a swap out there for a nice auto trans C3. Lets keep in touch.

Hate to here the news Larry.  But know what you're going through with the back issues.  I blew a disc 20+ years ago and was not a happy camper for a couple of months before I had surgury to repair it.  Luckily I haven't had any major issues since, but do 'feel it' after being in any vehicle for a few hours.

Look for the most recent "C3 Market Report" in Corvette Magazine to get a general feel for LT-1 prices (October 2008 I think was the latest one).  "Chromies" in general have been holding their own and I would think that LT-1s would be well above the norm.

Again, sorry to hear the news.  Hope the car finds as good home as you have given it!

So sorry to hear about your problems, brother Larry.  I remember admiring your beautiful LT-1 in Carson City.  Margie and I will be praying for your health problems to be cured.  Good luck and be sure to give Lacy a big hug for us.

Wow Larry. Sorry to hear the news. I know what it's like to devote so much time, energy and love into these cars. It sucks that you have to sell her, I hope you get a good price and that your back gets better.

Larry maybe you and John can work out a trade deal. since he has a auto vert this might suffice for an occasional quick temporary fix.

It could put a few bucks in your pocket, Save The Wave, and maybe hold you over until surgery has been done. Oh and did I mention it is RED?

Just a thought.....

Just need to find out if she does divorce me will she want the  LT-1 also?

That wouldnt work out.

Sorry to hear the news Larry. I have back problems that come and go so I know all to well what is like to sit i a vette for extended periods. Your vette is in great shape and should sell fast. May be you could get a C5 that would be more comfortable with some of the money you get from the LT1. Will be praying for you.
Yes you are still welcome to any of the NW activities as far as I am concerned. Just think spring wine tour.

Larry, take it from someone who has been  in your same situation, did exactly what you're thinking of doing, and has regretted it every day since.

I had owned corvettes before but had always wanted a '62. Two years after getting my favorite corvette, I started losing sensation in both my legs and it progressed to the point that I just couldn't handle the 4 speed tranny any longer. If at all possible, keep the car and change it over to an automatic transmission.

Whatever your decision, I wish you the best .

Sorry to hear about your delema. I faced the same issues in my 77, the 3 things that helped was auto trans, later model seats (I put in 80-82 seats with an extra piece of foam at the lower back area), and most helpfull cruise control. The cruise will let me move the legs around to get the feeling back in the leg.You cant leave the group, Kathy and I are looking forward to this years Barby. Prayers coming your way.

I thought I would let you all know Larry's car has a new home.
The good thing is it isnt far from the old one.
Really it was a tough deal as I could tell it was hard for him to part with it and I sure wasnt looking to buy another car at the present moment.

But we came to a agreed price that was fair to both of us and if I shall be poor someday at least I will have a 1970 LT-1 to drive to the freeway exit with my cardboard sign that says "anything helps!"

It may take a few weeks, months or years but I have hope that my wife will see the beauty of having 2 red convertible Corvettes.

I can dream cant I?

And yes I told Larry he can drive it anytime.

Congratulations John. This is more than just buying a C3. You helped Larry, and he helped you pair up the other vert, and you did this for much more than a selfish need to own another Corvette. A well deserved BRAVO!! Clap

Larry, you will always be part of our family - and you should keep the pictre of the LT1 on your profile. That's still in the family too! Wink

WOW.  I missed this whole thread.  Larry I just can't imagine the pain of having to sell your baby. Cry  But, PLEASE stay with the group!  You can try driving our automatic and see if that would work for you.  Ours has the newer seats.  Makes a BIG difference.  It's good that your baby stayed in the NW C3VR group, though.  Congrats, John!  kkfinch2009-01-19 13:36:38

Hay Larry I feel for you! But I know that John will take real good care of your Baby. When I met John he did tell me that if he got another Vette it would have to be a convertible. By the looks of John's '73 it is well cared for and the Foster home will be full of love.

I too somehow missed this thread.  Guess I've just been too busy.  Wow is all I can say.

Larry, so sorry to hear that you had to part company with your baby.  I've never met you, but I've read your posts and I can tell how much that car has meant to you.

However, it's so great that you were able to pick it up John and "keep it in the family."
