Well,

I was thinking I  would have time to work on this car and do a frame off restoration. Unfortunately,  that isn't going to happen.  My company keeps me on the road and since I won't be back semi-permanently until July at the earliest, unless I find another job I'll never have time to restore this thing.

 It's a 1972  4 speed, 350/300, numbers matching BASKET CASE !

Everything is sound on it.  Not driveable at all. It was trailered in.  It's a prime candidate for a frame off.  All the original parts are there except the front bumper, wheels and maybe a couple things under the hood.

I have the clear NC title.

I bought it for $4600, I'd like to get my money back out of it or get close.

I'll have to get the spouse to take pics.

  Jim

Jim,
Can't you have the wife put all the parts in a crate and have the Army ship it over to Kuwait for ya?
It would give you something to do in your spare time.LOL

Seriously, sorry to hear you won't be able to finish this. Stay safe.

Spare time?  I've heard rumors of this thing ....

I work from 0600-1800 everyday over here. Plus all the team lead stuff I do form 1800-0600.  I actually have had  two - 20 hour days since I've been here. And no, we don't get overtime.

Yeah I wish I could keep it.

Seriously though... wife took pics yesterday so. If anyone wants pics here they are....more to follow !

Well.....if I was really interested (man, it's tempting), I would need a picture of it's backside. Hmmmm, three days on the road with an empty trailer,,,,then three days on the road with a loaded trailer, my truck will get 14 mpg going empty and 11 mpg coming back loaded.....darn,,,,i'm just getting too old for this and i'm also without family support. Unfortunatly, my wife, son, daughter and her hubby just don't dig super-cool junk like this.........fools !!!    CoolRich

That looks like a great project for someone, but I would be more interested in the red one in the garage.

The rear window seal is GONE. It had some rain get in. Guy had it sitting outside.  I keep it covered now.

I have a couple of projects that I am looking at, but could be coerced into seriously looking at this one. I looks like a a good base for my "mild" custom ideas and since it needs a lot of work anyway, it would fit right in with my plans. I would make sure that you get your money out of it. Keep me in mind.

Basicly, I would like to know the condition of the frame, engine and if it is a clear title. If the initial cost is high and not a lot repair wise it is a reasonable project. If the initial cost is cheap but a lot in repair cost, then it may not be worth attempting. An undamaged car would also be a help. I look at the cost of the overall project. Was a carfax ever run on the car? The pictures I've seen so far are tempting, waiting for engine pics.

As far as I know you cannot Carfax anything prior to 17 digit VIN's. There are a few cracks in the fiberglass. I have the clear title.

Engine is not running, If I don't sell it, I plan on pulling it and having it rebuilt. Joel might get the tranny to rebuild.

I have to swipe the wifes camera and take the pics, left mine in Kuwait. Been busy...haven't had a chance yet.

Don't really mind "fib" cracks. Been playin with glass for years. Don't care if engine is running, I do my own mechanicals. Since it's a 4 gear, I'll rebuild it my self - I din't do auto's. Frame condition, your best guess will do. All interior parts with it? Anything extra that could be included? I'm putting together a cost of the projects to see which is going to maybe be the least expensive for me. I'm working in a budget here.

Frame has surface rust, no hole that I found. Birdcage looks good to include window frame. The radiator support needs replaced...

Hi Jim;

Thats OK I work some long days also, but they are not as long as yours I bet. I am a chemical operator on 12 shifts. When you get back in the country let me know and we can do some more talking about this car. As I told you before I AM getting ready to retire and am looking for a project to work on.

Thanks
