Friday, June 29th, is the date of the 7th Annual Drive Your Corvette To Work Day, sponsored by Mid America Motorworks. In honor of Drive Your Corvette To Work Day, enthusiasts across the United States make "America's Sports Car" their commuter car for the day. Every year, the Friday closest to June 30, Corvettes official birthday, is chosen to observe Drive Your Corvette To Work Day.

Mid America Motorworks promotes Drive Your Corvette To Work Day among Corvette owners and clubs. The goal is to have as many Corvette owners as possible drive their car to work that day. Launched in 2001, Mid America Motorworks' Drive Your Corvette To Work Day is an annual event celebrated by thousands of Corvette owners.  Read More on the MAM website...Adam Wartell2007-06-28 12:41:54

I was just thinking how it will be nice enough Friday, but thought, nah, I'll wait.

But not now!  It's supposed to be perfect top-down weather here.  Sorry about those of you with the rain - we had that last weekend and the beginning of this week!

I will make sure I add to the Vettes on the road on Friday

Well, if the rain would let up, I'd consider it. But then, it would only be about twenty feet, out one driveway and in to another to my shop. LOL I guess I could let my wife drive it to.....nah.

I didn't know there were so many Corvette owners that used that Four (4) letter word (WORK). Become retired and you can drive anytime.

Mine is going to work.  If you are driving it for a specfic reason, the insurance will cover it.   Drive your corvette to work day should qualify.  If not, all you need to do is show it to someone.  You can drive it for that purpose.

Are you sure about that, Mark?  Big Brother is always watching.....  Wink

It might be worth checking into whether or not it's allowed under the policy.  Of course, rain is in our forecast....  I'll have to think on it some more.....

"Drive Your Corvette to Work Day" IS a recognized Corvette "event". The only real issue as far as the insurance is concerned is if you get into an accident, or something happens to the car. You can always tell them you were taking it for an oil change, state inspection, or..."tire rotation"...
Another problem would be if it got stolen() from your work place. Classic/Antique insurance requires the car be "reasonably safe-secured" while out of your garage/storage. btw...Valet parking ain't considered "safe/secure"...

If the weather is nice, DRIVE 'EM!
Shoot...I may drive Mama's!

Fo' shua!  Gunna drive her to work.  As far as in-shore-ins goes, I try to make everyday "an event!" Wink Except, of course, those days it rains.

As for RATRAY, get a smaller golf bag.  Mine fits. In fact, we tried to get TWO bags in recently.  Now THAT didn't work. (OOPS!  I said that 4-letter word! Sorry.)

Mine is insured as a reg car with a stated value from Progressive. I drive this car two or three times a week to work. I would not want an insurance that limited my use. No trailer queen here.Smile

I'll be driving the vette to work. What kind of insurance do you guys have that says you can't drive to work (once in a while). I have Haggerty, and when I got it, I asked them and they told me, once in a while is ok as long as I have a daily driver for everyday commuting.

I drove my vette today.  It says 20-30 % chance of rain between 8 am and 10am then partly cloudy all day.  I took her out. for ten min in sprinkled. not heavy enough to need the wipers.  this is the only time it gets a shower. other than that i keep her nice and dry and polish and wax her all the time.  I figured i would risk the rain and the 5 or so leaks since it is the one birthday our vettes have a year.  i got towels for each spot a leak may occur.  no sitting down on a soaked seat for me.

Well, i hope others had beter luck in driving their vettes to work today.

next time for me is july 7th for the caravan in NJ. there is a thread "vettes for Vets"
I wouldn't even drive a lease vette on a day like today.
Larry, the rain was movin' your way when I watched the weather at 4:30 yesterday morning, and I thought the most I would get heading west was a few splashes off of the road.  Wow!  The rain I hit certainly didn't show on the radar!  Good thing I had the top up!

However, the amazing thing my wife pointed out was - it didn't melt, as I had lead her to believe it would!!

The drive home was wonderful with the top down, but I only saw one other Vette on the road the whole day.  Damn owners (oh, sorry, "Leasers").

So sad Unhappy  2nd year in a row that I couldn't drive my Pacer to work.  The rain was too much yesterday and last year I think I was out of town.  Well maybe next year.

Well I didn't work yesterday so I had plenty of time to make this happen. I took my lovely bride out for dinner yesterday evening. In light of it being Drive Your corvette To Work day and despite the puffy gray clouds we brought Tux out to play. All worked out well. I did see a new MN yellow vert a the hospital and I know the owner was working. (sorry bout her luck)

I took mine to the college, and one other instructor took his C4.  I saw another C3 while at work, but didn't see another Vette on the road.

Took mine to work, then to the gas station. After the drive home from CC, I was on fumes.   Cool

We did a make up on Saturday. 70's, sunny and dry air. This day ranked in the top ten for the year. Up the coast of Maine or up and down if you look at a map. It don't get any better. No other C3's. One wave out of 3 C5's.

Couldn't drive either Vette to work last Friday 'cause we were still on vacation...!!!  Drove "The Beast" from Boulder, CO to Wall, SD so had plenty of seat time.  Only saw a couple of other Vettes on the road.

Ditto here.

Just worked out that I was passing through Effingham, IL (home of Mid-America) on Friday, so I stopped to pay them a visit.

I asked the kid working in the store if he drove his Vette to work. I couldn't believe him when he said he didn't have a Vette!!!

There was an old timer (guy my age) working in the store and he drove his newer Vette to work.

Got some nice pics while I was there.
