A customer stopped by my shop a while back with his son's '01 Z06..red too. Asked me if I wanted to drive it. I thought about it for .0001th of a second and said "sure".  JEEZ! that car was like riding my son's crotch rocket....almost. I had to back off before I even got to sixth gear! phewWhat a rush!Tongue

The good thing is that it wasn't a true test drive. I do some work on the side for a few car dealerships in the evenings and on weekends. I had to go pick up a printer cable, so they let me drive the vette (this is a high-end used car store). No sales pressure at all Wink (well, except from me!Rolling%20On%20The%20Floor%20Laughing).

One of my buddies had an 02 Z06 he let me drive. Oh man was that sweet. I would love to have a C5 Z06 someday. Well the Z has been sold and is gone now. His wife has bought a yellow C6 vert. Now that is another sweet ride. I cannot get over how quite the car is with the top up. Then when you mash the go pedal, it really wakes up and moves out. All good stuff for sure.

One of these days, I would love the Electron Blue C5 Z06 to be setting in my garage.
Oh boy, now you've gone and done doh I've been resisting the erge to drive a C5, if I did drive one I know I'd be bringing some new home for momma LOL
Sounds like a GREAT ESCUSE to me! ClapClap Yes, I like the C5 (talked myself into it) it's a good cruiser with 30mpg (if ya' keep the foot outta it), great stereo system (Bad A$$), great get up and go boogie (thrills!), great storage area & easy to access (cut out room in C6). Thumbs%20Up  I STILL LOVE MY C3 just as MUCH, but it does not do all of the above.......well, she will get up and boogie. Wink  She's not perfect, but I love the simplicity and early techno, thicker fiberglass, the mechanic smell and the roaring deep loudness of her lead guzzling engine......what a piece of History!! Big%20smile I DRIVE BOTH. Wink

Sundevil, I dare you to test drive a C5....are we on?? LOLWink

The best accessory for a C3 is a C5.  Best thing about the C5 (well, one of the myriad best things) and C4's too is that their prices are regulated by nothing but the used car market, so AEs asside, you can get a lot of car for the money.

I forgot to mention all the money you'll save by putting collector's insurance on your C3 now that you'll be driving it less.  Not to mention air bags, etc to convince "she who must be obeyed" that it is ok for me to take my daughter for a ride.

Micki -- Discretion is the better part of valor. I must, therefore, respectfully decline your enticing offer (challenge?).  Cry

The truth is:
(1) Mama HATES my oldCorvetteitis (the serious kind of hate); thinks I'm a gunna keel myself in one. Is there a better way to go????? Methinks not.
(2) I know if I test drove a new one, I'd HAVETA have one. Unhappy
(3) I no can afford to provide proper care and feeding of two Vettes. I already have four cars and only two of us to drive 'em. Plus, I'm semi-retired and trying to D-O-W-N-S-I-Z-E.

So . . . I'll just keep drooling.  Good news, crusin' with the tops off the shark keeps the drool off my shirt!  Rolling%20On%20The%20Floor%20Laughing Happy motorin', girlfren'. I'll take you up on another challenge some other day!

I love Micki's right on description of driving a C3. I sold a C4 to buy my current C3. I am so into the old stuff that I know my next Vette will be a C2. For me, older is better. At least for cars.Cool
