You probly already have this info...You can get a free Restoration Package for your Corvette from GM/Chevrolet. Call the Chevrolet Customer Assistance hotline at (800) 222-1020 or 810-696-4800. You will need to supply the VIN of the car.

The phone call only takes 4-5 minutes of your time and is absolutely free. The Restoration Package usually gets sent out to you within 2-3 business days of your request and includes the following:


Chevrolet Past Model Parts
Chevy Restoration Corvette Manual
These are unbound photo copies of the manual. The Restoration Manual is a specifications book for the model year that you request. It includes several magazines articles, followed by an order guide for that model year, General Information and a Vehicle Overview. MVMA specifcaitons for your requested model year. The Past Model Parts information is a directory of suppliers that carry GM Restoration parts, shops, suppliers and publications. The package comes from MSX International in Auburn Hills, MI.

There are several threads already that discuss this, but it is good to have a fresh look once in awhile. The package costs the folks in Canada about $45 (CD?) but they get more documentation about their car because import records are available.

It is a good package though. I haven't made it all the way through all the material yet but plan to by the time "The Toy" comes home in early April from the winter storage spot.

I posted this 3or4 months ago ,it got a ton of hits,quite a few of the members sent for the packets and got them,some didn't and yes there is a charge for our Canadian friends,unless they can get somebody down here in the states to send the info in for them down here,I dont know how well that would work,but I guess you could try. There is a ton of info in these packets ,for restoration,and lists of all G.M. approved dealers of replacement parts,services,etc. But there still is no info in the packet for tracking down your own personal vette,back to the plant they claim all that info is gone,old files in the dumpster I guess.But as I said earlier,in the old post,the Corvette is there oldest model and still being produced,there crown jewel and I am sure they want to keep every one they can alive and well that they can.P.S. G.M. isnt just doing this for Corvettes You can get packets for any make and model that they have produced,cars and trucks .So send for it ,it only takes a couple of minutes,make sure you have your VIN ready when you call,some ask for it some don't,the best part is its free,when was the last time you got something for free? I'd heard about it from somewhere about 2 yrs ago,& thought I'd pass it on again this time.My 1st dealings with them was a pleasant younger sounding "girl",and I got my package in around 1 week for my '77.This time I got a guy who put down the phone & came back in around 6 minutes,and didnt even ask for the VIN.Now its been around 6 weeks-and nothing!

Ordered my package for my 74 last week and it arrived yesterday via UPS. Could not put it down. It consisted of 2 books. The one with all of the specification was the most complete I have found to date. Lots of numbers and things an engineer would get excited about. For example it had numbers of revolutions of the rear wheels at 45 mph in one mile. 756 REV/Mile. or the advance curve for the distributor both mechanical and vacuum over the RMP range of the engine. I am sure you could find most of this info in other sources but you are never sure it matches your year plus it is all in the one book. Not a slick covered thing with glossy pictures --- just the facts man, just the facts.

Well worth the phone call. If your restoring a vette make the call. 1-800-222-1020 You will like the price.

Ordered mine today. They were very helpful and it only took a couple of minutes to get through the menus. They said 2-3 weeks for processing. Can't wait to see it.

I ordered the restoration package and received it 3 business days later although the guy told me 2-3 weeks. The information actually is reproduced and mailed to you by a company called MSX International. They must be the data retrieval company that GM uses and passes on the order when you request it through GM. Aside from some useful general knowledge the best thing about it is that it was free except for our Canadian members).

Just got off the phone - after reading the conversations posted above, I called GM and ordered a package for my '79. After going thru several messaging cycles, I was connected to a very friendly guy that took my VIN and said the package would arrive "in a few weeks." He also gave me a Reference No., so that if I don't receive the package in a reasonable amount of time, I can call and place a tracer on it. From reading the messages above, I look forward to receiving the information. Thanks for the lead !!

Happened apon this post. Said just for the heck I would try calling. It took 4-5 min they said I would receive my package 3-6 weeks. Its kinda strange they must want the info of old chevy's still on the road.
