Yeah, that's the only thing I would wish for is that I had a big block. At least I have some cool options like the 4 speed and factory air.

IMHO, I believe it's BS.  Corvette magazine says a completely different thing.  The '68's increase % rate was the lowest for a chromie.  There's more people out there that really like the "Stingray" name on the side.  If our cars really do increase in value, that's cool, but the main reason I like 'em is because they are fun to drive.  When I get in mine and start that engine..........I'm back in the 60's again...........you can't beat that trip! Wink

No investment here.   I've managed to spend more on mine over the years I have owned it than it will be worth in a long time.  Don't care though.  I spent over twice it's value just to build a place to put it.

From my experience in looking for my '74, there are still a good number of 1974 Big Block Convertibles out there, it's just that almost all of them are automatics.  Before today, I hadn't seen a '74 454 4-speed Convertible for less than $30,000.  But then today, I found this:

It's in rough shape, but from the looks of it, that's partly because it looks to have original tail and nose.  At this price, it might make a good investment for someone looking for a project!

Unless you have a boat load of money or are very young with a boat load of money cars for an investment won't bring a rapid return that most will see materialize in order to take advantage of it.

With fuel cost and technology being what they are today it is anybodyies guess what true dollar values may be in the future.

People can write all day long about what they are worth... the only thing I believe is... if you are trying to sell and someone else wants to pay what you want... $$$ in the pocket are what count...  also how many of the next generation will buy C3 vettes when we are ready to sell... just drive the thang and let your kid's worry about sellin'Wink I'm driving my BB  '73  and 4 spd... hell.. I might as well... it ain't on that listCry

Personally I love the 73... but a Rag Top BB 4 speed car WOULD be high on my list of desirable C3's to own.....PERIOD.

68's did not make the lust either...BUT I kind of think that both of these cars ALREADY have been recognized as cars that will appreciate substantially over the next 10 years ...whereas the listed cars are now just at the point where  appreciation will take off..

That said these cars offer so much fun to drive buying one to store in the garage just ain't my idea of making good use of my short time on this planet Earth...

Still since I do own a few of them its nice to know they may be worth some money to my children & grandchildren... I'll take my rewards in the form of smiles per miles ...

"Lust" or "List?"  Freudian Slip?  Does it really matter?  When you're talking about a list of Corvettes, I suppose "Lust" is just as good a word as any!!

I would never consider a Corvette an investment, but I do know people who buy and sell short term and make a profit.

Long term you are better off investing in the stock market, although I would shy away from GM stock.

That being said, there are not many 20 year-old cars that you can buy, drive and maintain for ten years, then sell for what you paid for it.

As a matter of fact, most 20 year-old cars are already in the crusher.

Long live the C3.Clap

And Bob- Nice collection.

Remember, this is one man's opinion ( Mike Yeager) and opinions are like belly buttons, we all have one. (I cleaned it up for the web site.) What about a '63 split window.....My car, a really nice 20 foot '74 Corvette, is my hobby. Working on this car is a labor of love. An investment?, not hardly. Micki hits the nail right on the head. Driving it is like dialing back the clock....My son, who has always driven front wheel drivve 4 or 6 cylinder wheezers, eyes nearly popped out of his head the first time I fired up the Corvette...talk about a priceless moment...
