Tux- The first one seems comparable, but it's not a Vert.  Doesn't that add value?  (Not that I necessarily want a Vert...that would have pluses and minuses!)  The other 2 are manual transmissions....I want auto, remember Big%20smile.  But, I get your point...there's always more.  Picture the little brat on Willy Wonka and the Chocoloate Factory -- "I want it NOW"!

Aaron- I'll email that guy for the VIN.  We're gonna be in Hillsboro Saturday so maybe we can look.

Hi Mikey...glad your at least looking at the forum!!

By the way, I told Mike I was willing to wait on purchasing the 2nd (daily driver) Vette if we take the C3 off the collector policy and fix it so it doesn't leak (rain getting in).  He didn't seem to like the idea of our baby being out and about every day.  It is after all our first born!

Glen, Karen - Few things
* About the LT1's - These are some of the most rock solid engines Chevy ever made. There are expected items that go wrong with these at a give mileage.
Opti-spark units go bad, as long as your there change the water pump, belts and hoses and do a radiator flush. Top ends on these things are typically good for 125k with GOOD maintanance and strict attention to the cooling system. Rolling bearing work is due and no one ever does it.  They are really good motors BUTwhen the go, it gets expensive quick. Valve guides, injectors etc need attention.  The long mileage coolant, that has I think a 5 year useage life. Was it flushed?  Its 15 years?

My Mom has a 93 coupe from new, my Dad who has owned EVERY muscle car says its the best and most reliable car he has ever owned.  C4s are really solid cars so dont be apprehensive about buying one.

Honest world pricing on a C4 vert for the following..  94/95/96 with 75k on the clock with an automatic and 8 of 10 condition (3+) WITH RECORDS AND WORK UP TO DATE should retail at 12000 to 13500. Add 300 to 500 for a 95 and 500 to 700.00 for a 96. Exceptional cars or low miles/high options are on another plane.

VERY recently I saw a 95 vert 6 speed in Polo Green w/45k sell for 12700.00 locally.

I know its difficult but find the best vehicle for the money.  It took me 3 years to find my 81.

Good Luck, Kevin

I love that Willie Wonka and the chocolate factory!!!!! Gene Wilder always did make me smile!

Yep you are right the vert adds value and the auto takes away.... go figure. But now I understand you better. Do you have a color preference?

Here is what I think a car your are looking at should sell for. Corvette Forum

I like the way the guy says asking $8000 but open to offers. It a 2 owner car and I bet this kids dad took it to the dealer for work so the records are available.

I like this rare copper color with a negotable price. It reads a SYS problem but I believe the fellow is right eluding to the battery. I bet it could be bought cheaper and have the seller take the car to have the error repaired prior to purchase / deliver of keys.

Nice ride from florida back home this time of year.....

Here are a few MORE...

Man, I am glad I didn't ask before I traded my Tahoe for an 85 C4. I would have run scared. I had been looking for a C4 for about 6 months. I ran into the same thing Karen is running into here in the NW. For some unknown reason Corvette prices here are more expensive than anywhere else. I finally started looking in CA and TX, much cheaper but you have the shipping and or driving home to concider. My question to all is about the reliabilty and repair costs of the older L98 compared to the LT1. The L98 appers to be alot easier to work on. Maybe some of you guys expertise would help Karen make a decision on what years to look at. By the way I bought my Tahoe for 4500 so I guess thats what i paid for the C4. It only needs door seals so far, runs perfect.
I just checked craigslist Portland, see #878774929 '87 Black Conv 85K on the clock, owned for 10 years, asking $8400.00. in Hillsboro.
Here are some pics of the 87 black Vert:

What do you think?  Awhile back, Mike said if we do get one, it should be 1990 or newer.  Any thoughts on that?  What about age vs mileage (the 96 is obviously newer but has more miles).

Did you have to bring that up???  Dead  We just got a revised estimate for the total cost of the boat (which isn't done yet Wits%20End).  Let's just say Mike and I almost had heart attacks.  He went in and started going through charges line by line with the boat yard and there are mistakes (how many is yet to be determined) but I won't be getting any kind of car any time soon.  The boat is beautiful but.....

By the way, If you haven't checked recently, I posted more photos of the boat:  Willow

Karen,

Thanks for the boat pictures. I love following the progress of such a large project. Especially when it's someone else's money.
