Guys, I'll just say this once more and then drop it.  I'm sure the Hampton in DuPont is great, but I'm just not sure y'all will really want to stay 20 minutes (that's without traffic) south of Tacoma since it seems that most of the activities I've heard interest expressed in are in Tacoma (museums) or North of Tacoma (Seattle, Boeing).  The only exception would be Mt Rainier - DuPont might be a slight advantage for that drive.  Considering this is a July weekend, there will be traffic throughout the entire I-5 corridor Olympia to Everett, but the area around DuPont is typically one of the worst sections - there just always seems to be traffic there.  But just sayin...  It will be a great gathering regardless of the chosen sleeping location!

Crap I guess I missed that part about the traffic I was just thinking out of the city, which always is first on my list but then the closest town to me is Mistatim Population approx 100, so what do I know.  Can we start the voting over or maybe to most the traffic just doesn't matter, whats important is quality and parking

Adam, as of this morning the vote is 11 to 3 Hampton Inn, DuPont. Is it official or do you want to leave it open until sometime after the Holidays ??

I think anyone that cares enough to vote probably already voted, so we could call it now if that helps you.

Thanks!

Adam, if you have no objection, let's call it official. I'll give the guy at the Hampton a call this week and let him know we're in. I can also let the HI Express know that we went the other way, thanks.

OK then.

What are we going to do for 4+ days?

Wednesday evening- Meet and Greet at the hotel, for sure.

Drive through the hills, I hope.

Maybe Mt. Rainer or Olympic Park?

Downtown Seattle?

A museum or two?

Should I start packing?

A tour of Boeing would be cool.

I know I'm going to take a day to retrace my footsteps around Ft. Lewis and a little town of Roy I lived in. We are really looking forward to this trip.

I'll be heading to the farthest western point in the continental USA, Cape Alava.  I've been to the most Eastern and the most Southern...dorky bucket list stuff.

Finishing up the reservation details with Mark from the Hampton Inn DuPont today. He will be providing a link to book rooms up until 30 days before the Gathering (mid June). I will post the link and the official hotel info as soon as I receive, then start another thread regarding possible activities. Pack your bags, a little more than 6 mos. till July 13th !!

Yes the traffic around DuPont can be bad but for safety reasons I'd go with DuPont any day. I'd guess about 90% of the population of DuPont is active duty military, DuPont is practically surrounded by Ft Lewis or JBLM as its now known as. As for ease of access to I5 there's probably nowhere easier. I've talked with Julie Stacy at Classic Reflection coachworks and they would love to have us visit their facility.crcoachworks.com We just need to figure out when to fit it in the schedule. They are about 15 minutes from DuPont.

And there is also Americas Car Museum in Tacoma, the LeMay Collection. If you went to the Carson City/Lake Tahoe gathering I called out the guy when he said Harrah's Collection was the largest and he admitted that Lemay's collection is larger.
