Approve 14 days and dropping fast. We will be well on our way by this time in two weeks.Thumbs Up Looking forward to seing friends from past gatherings and beginning NEW friendships that we have not met before. From the looks of the list of attendees, this is the BIGGEST one yet. Are we excited yet?  There WILL be CERTAIN ones we will MISS, Evil Smile, but we understand the situation. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. AND makes the Hugs last longer.

Well now...I see from the "O-feesh-al" listing of participants, that our favorite Penguin may be missing this year's festivities. Dadgummit.....oh well....in honor of Gatherings past, it just wouldn't be the same without the little Penguin dance, so....enjoy...

For all of you coming a long distance, do you want me to set of gas tankers for y"all.  The tankers could have two compartments....one for gasoline and one for COFFEE (doughnuts could be stacked up on the CB antenna's)!!!!

I do not know about the other states, but the latest thing in SC (or at least in the Greenville area) is more stations are offering PURE gasoline (PURE = NO ethanol).  It is a little more expensive, but in my daily driver (a C5) I do get better mileage, and the '78 with the ZZ4 LOVES it!!!!

I was told that "da Rook" made a very good (description of good may vary Wink) first impression on the C3VR group. I have been told that it would be very hard to out do his introduction, BUT if the package arrives in time, I do plan on handing out a little something to everyone as MY introduction.

David, I can't believe that we've forgotten to tell you to bring your wash buckets and cleaning supplies.  As The Rook will tell you, it's the responsibility of the newbie at the gathering to wash everyone else's cars upon arrival.  We'd like to let you off the hook since you seem like such a nice guy, but, it's tradition.  Just ask Dan

I will indeed be carrying a bag of cleaning products and the only spray detailer I use now is that black stuff from Turtle Wax.  The first time I used it, I looked at my cloth and almost fainted...I thought that I was rubbing the finish off because my cloth was BLACK...then I realized that the spary detailer was tinted black...wheeeeewh Embarrassed

I have offered to help Clint with his BEAUTIFUL white '64, but he always declines...I wonder why Wink

so anybody who attends, has a black car, and has not tried it...I will demostrate how good it is..but ONLY in a small spot right in the middle of the hood Evil Smile

Ebo, that's one of the reasons we couldn't take the C3, not enough luggage room.  Sure looking forward to the trip... everyone says they're a ball to travel in.  Sure wish you were gonna be there, buddy, really like to meet you.  Maybe next time.

Big smile Try riding a Motorcycle with a wife and ALL the trappings. You learn to MAKE room, and use it wisely. When we got the VETTE and traveled, we were in comfort. We could move around, carry Much more and enjoy the ride. We even carried a tent and slept on the ground. That was years ago, but still fun.
We'll MISS the "EBO" folks. Sorry the days didn't line up for you. Cry

Larry - you guys will love cruising down the hwy in that pretty C6. Just set the temp, set the speed, set the tunes and sit back and enjoy 28+ mpg. I love my C3 the best, but them C6s are a pleasure to travel in.

Have a safe trip and enjoy the sites,  see you in SC. - Dennis

Dennis,
I concur.  I LOVE my C3, but you drive them because you WANT to, not for comfort.  I have a C5 (had it for 7 years now) and on the National Caravan for the Corvette Museum's 15th annivesary I was getting 31 mpg.  Our caravn was the VA, NC and SC.  We did not fly down the road because we had some C2's and C3's upfront.  We had the cruise set between 60 - 65 mph.  Previously my wife and I had attended the 50th anniversary for Corvette in Nashville, and that was before the addition of the C5.  My '78's A/C does not work (and will not be working for the gathering, so I hope for decent temp's, but it will be for the next national caravan in 2014), so we drove home in one shot with the T-tops off.  We were sun burnt, wind burnt, partially deaf and beat-to-death.

Looking forward to meeting all of you people...no matter what Clint has said about y'all.

Larry, I have been waiting to see you and your C3 with the glassed in bumpers for a long time.
So when we do meet you beter have it with you!

Mark, yep I'm still bumbed out...
Too bad you did not have a C5 or C6, then you could bring along a few jack stands and maybe a 5HP compressor!
But I'm not sure it's a good thing to put a Cop in a way to fast Vette.......I can see the smokey U turns now......ouch Miss Shir you better tighten those belts down sweetie........just sayin Wink

Evil Smileebo
On second thought if you bring Miss Shirleys car instead of yours she could drive......she would never pull a U'eeee

Larry,
Did you fill in the seams between the bumpers and the body?  (green with envy)  When the day comes when I can afford to have my '78 re-painted, I wanted to have that seam filled in first.  How does it look?  Can you bring a picture along with you?

Mr. EBO did bring up a good point.  Of all the people attending the gathering this year, what are the occupations?  I am a Senior Electrical Designer (basically a non-degreed engineer...engineers get the glory when something is right...designers are the scape-goat when something goes wrong), with 34 years of experience.  Industrial stuff.

Yup David, the bumper seams were filled in when the bumpers were replaced with fiberglass ones.  It came out great and has a much smoother, sleek appearance.  I'll try to remember to bring some closeup pics.

That is a good idea about the occupations of all the members.  I think it would be a good thread on another forum, that way everyone can respond.  Would give all of us a little more insight to the rest of our C3VR family.  I'll see about getting one started.

I do not know how many of you attending have met Clint's wife (Judith), but you are in for a REAL treat.  She is a beautiful lady and one of the absolute nicest people you will ever want to meet. Embarrassed  (gosh...)

(she tries to tell me that I am a nice guy, but that ruins my image I tell her)

I have told him that if (hopefully WHEN), he unloads his C6, I WILL buy it.  It is exactly the one I would order (like that would ever happen...sheeeesh)
