Hey Dave, did you know that you can camp anywhere in a National Forest, but some of the roads into the forest are not suited for a Vette.

No Dave, I did not know that. I guess a National Forest is different than a National Park.
Can I car camp in a Wal-Mart parking lot?

I guess you can stay in a Walmart lot, but there aren't as many out there as they are back here.

Dave, we would love to see you buddy. I know you have relatives within 40 mi. of us, but all the options are still offered ( prvt. room and etc.). I know we're 30 mi. off the nearest hwy. so if that doesn't work for ya, maybe we could come your way and meet for lunch sometime. If time with your relatives is too short, don't worry about a thing, we'll catch up to you on the forum, you've done some of the best photo spreads I've ever seen. Hope we haven't seen the last. I'll shoot you our info via PM.... Man, it's been almost 45 yrs. since I've been through Moab, Utah, sure would like to see a pic of the buttes. Drive extra careful. Happy trails.

Jimmy,
I got your PM and replied.
I printed out a map from my sister's place to yours and it is less than an hour drive time.
I looked on the map at Rt 26 for a place to meet between Rt 99 and your place and it looked pretty barren.
If you know of a place, let me know.
I also want to get up to my nephew's place in Cool, CA.
I may have to stay an extra day or get there a day earlier.
I will call you when I arrive and we can work something out.
Dave

Looking forward to your stop in SO CAL.

I just thought I would post this link in case others are coming from that direction I stumbled on this place about 10 years ago and it is amazing then.  You may want to thing about taking a little northern route.  Should have posted it earlier.

I could have stopped there 3 years ago on my way home from Bend, Oregon.
Any car museums in SO CAL?

These are the main ones in SO CAL there are others mostly private collections.  Jay Leno's comes to mind at the top of my head.

One that I have been meaning to go see is the Petersen Auto museum  http://www.petersen.org/visit/interactive-map   Trip Advisers say it is a 2 hour museum.  Coming the way your are I would take the 405 off of the 5 as you come down the grapevine then take  the 1 east and and after that follow your GBS.  The address is 6060 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90036.

Then a little further south is the Marconi museum http://www.marconimuseum.org/

There is a small auto museum which is ok in San Diego Balboa Park.  Now the Park is a great Place.

Here is a picture of the main area http://www.sandiegan.com/san-diego-automotive-museum-balboa-park/

I will be having Mexican lunch with Dave this Sunday at Por Forvors in La Mesa.  Talked to him on the phone and it sounds like he is having a great time and has some great pictures to show for it.

Yup, had a great Mexican lunch with Gil in La Mesa. Quaint little town.
Wish I could have been there on a Thursday night when they have their weekly Cruise-in.

I'm back home now, sorting out the pictures so I can make a little slide show.

It was good to see everyone and now I can't wait for next year.

Of course, I will be at Vettes at the Beach and Corvettes at Carlisle, so the season isn't over yet.
