It looks like I can make the trip in 3 days.

I90 to Cleveland, OH then I271 to Columbus, pick up I70 and follow it to CO.

Tentative plan is to leave Victor, NY on Monday June 24, 2013 and drive to Indianapolis, IN.
Tuesday night will be somewhere in Kansas, possibly Abilene.
Arrive in Manitou Springs, CO Wednesday afternoon to check in and get some dinner.

If that works for you, join the Caravan.

We may be able to hook up with you somewhere. Will be at my son's place Sat. not sure when we will leave there but we most likely will come together at some point since we too will be going out 70. I may need to shorten the daily drive time because of my legs, so we may be ahead of you at the start. We can work it out later.
Hopefully there will be others joining along the way.
Looking forward to another great road trip. Thumbs Up
Dave

Looking forward to another GR8888 Gathering.

Wally and I are tentatively planning on leaving Minne-snow-ta on Tuesday afternoon and overnighting near Lincoln, NE.  We were thinking of jumping off I-80 near Lexington, N and zigzaging down to Colby, KS.  We would have to get an early start on Wednesday though in order to make the Colorado state line by noon.  Will there be a Colorado State Trooper to greet us and give us an escort to Colorado Springs...?!?  LOL

Hey Dave, that is a pretty strict schedule, but I wouldn't expect anything less from an ex-drill sarge.
I will meet you Monday morning somewhere along the route.

I only did that to give people an idea when we will be at certain areas so they can join us. We can modify it as needed.

I have been very well behaved with regard to LEO encounters.

November I enjoyed Charlotte Motor Speedway (with video) and in May Talladaga !!

plus the occasional open highway Cool

Kansas & Colorado would be a challenge for me.

It's not too bad here in Kansas, Clint, the limit on most Interstates is 75mph, so you would only be going 15 or 20 above the limit.   Wink LOL

I do wish I could attend. Other conflicts and commitments prevent me from practicing western speed limits. I know everyone will have a great time.

75 is an interesting starting point ! We got an Interstate named that over here.

Oh yes, I remember trying to catch Clint's train going into Charleston and Savannah - great trip! I can only imagine trying to catch that train out west. Wish we could make it this year.

I see there are a couple of IN Vettes signed up for this Gathering.
I wonder what route they will be taking.
I70 maybe?

Maybe we will pass them on the way out.

Hey Mark, you can call us, Dave & my wife Nadine, we will be leaving Columbus in the morning.

My cell # is 973-479-4445, Nadine's is 201-874-1337. Call Nadine's phone since it's easier since she is not driving.

Anyone else wanting to join us can get us on Nadine's cell phone. I have an itinerary on here, look back a few replys. This is approximate but will give you a rough idea of where we will be at a certain time.
Getting close!

Dave

Dave, so sorry to hear Nadine and you will not be making it to the Gathering.  We were looking forward to seeing you two again and you'll be sorely missed.  Sorry to hear about Nadine's father being ill, he will be in our prayers for a full, quick recovery.

I haven't looked yet because I was counting on Dave and Nadine.

Do you want to look at what is in Salina and pick one?

I have no preference.

BTW, Dick and Jill are planning to arrive in Salina Tuesday evening as well.

I did some research and found what I believe is the best deal for a motel in Salina. I booked the Days Inn Salina I-70 for Tuesday nite June 25. I haven't been to Salina in years, but the reviews I saw of all the motels there on I-70 that one was the best at the best price. There's also an IHOP close by if you don't want their continental breakfast. It is at:
407 West Diamond Dr. Salina, Ks 67401 (I-70 exit 252) and is right by the exit. You can get a better rate if you reserve at least 7 days in advance. Also, you can get a discount if you are an AARP member. Check their rates and codes section.

Well, it looks like you and Margie, me, maybe Dick and Jill, and then Mike will meet us in the morning. Maybe Mark and Jan (69BBConv) too.
Not sure about Norsky and Wally. I think they will take a short cut.

Sounds like there could be quite a "Train" coming from the east if the NY, OH, IN and IL folks all connect.  Anyone heard from Marion on his plans?

Rolling out of York, NE Wednesday morning about an hour before you roll out of Salina should have us all near Colby about the same time - that is provided everyone obeys the speed laws...!!!  Evil Smile

Marion said he won't be able to make it this year, maybe next year.

I am waiting to hear from Bob and Pat H.

Dave, I was looking thru the list of attendees and there's several others from the east
that I don't know if they're going to join up or what their route and schedule is.
They are: Chuck (Chucks7d8), Duane (DWALKER), Marshall (manget1), Frank (Eaglenest), Mel (Karmel77) and Jim (Riddj).  Have you heard anything from or about them?

Me (and my son, Nate) - We're coming from PA, but we're flying into Santa Fe on Saturday 6/22. Renting a car and driving up to Colorado Springs on Wednesday 6/26.  Flying out of Colorado Springs on Sunday 6/30.

Not to get off topic, but ya know what's nuts.... when I started C3VR, Nate wasn't even born yet.  Now he's 10!  A handful of you have seen him grow up.  You've seen him at various events (Carlisle, CFAC, NCM, local show, and now our annual Gathering.)

See ya all there!!

Adam, it's going to be a pleasure to meet your son.  We're looking forward to it.  I'm sure that someday he'll have his own Vette.

Sounds good Frank.
I have about a 9 hour drive on Tuesday, with a time change in my favor.
I should be there before 5 PM.
Not sure when Larry and Margie or Dick and Jill plan to arrive, but I am sure we can have dinner together at some time.

Margie and I should be there by 4pm or so.  We are only about 1 1/2 hours away.  By the way, Chuck and Linda (Chuck's7d8) stopped by our house yesterday on the way to Pueblo.  They won't be joining our caravan and should meet everyone there in Manitou Springs.  ARE WE THERE YET?????  Thumbs Up Clap Party Beer
