Well, surely glad about the first part of the title, not so much about the second part.  Not that I'm not glad to be home, but being home means the gathering is over and that is certainly too bad.  I know we did not want it to end.

Got home about 1:15.  Great friends, great time, to bad it had to end!

We're in.... somewhere bout 3:30 or so. Soon as I backed into the driveway the Heavens opened up and let the rain out! Better then than any other time during the Gathering.

Even though we had a timely arival on Friday and were thankful to have shared in a small portion it was waaaay tooo shooort!

It was wonderful to see old friends and awesome to meet new friends. Unfortunitly we didn't get to get around and talk with as many folks as we would have liked too. I am sure meeting some of you would have enriched our C3VR family realtionship even more. To that I am extremely sorry!

None the less it was an outstanding time and THANKS TO ALL WHO WERE THERE TO MAKE IT SPECIAL!!!

P and I pulled in around 3:30. The ole girl ran great all the way. We had a great time with our old and new friends, but I miss you guy's already.

I would like to thank Mike and Laurie for their hospitality and kindness. You and your team really did a great job making this one of the best gatherings yet.

So now its hot shower, Ben Gay to soothe the aches and pains from rockin out last night, and off to the sack.

We left at 0700 hrs. CST arrived in town at 1755 hrs. EST.

Wash and chiseled the gazillion bugs off of it. Pushed it in the garage since the starter is now completely dead. Cut the grass, grilled some burgers, took a hot shower and had a couple cold beers. Good trip!

 We would do this trip all over again. We would like to say thanks to everyone involved in making this a great event. I was great to see some old faces and meet some new ones.

GEN III 5.7L "LS6" Engine swap
TKO500 5 spd.

Rolled up the driveway at 8:57pm ...14 hrs and 20 minutes bout 897 miles. Car isems, after one fill up volt meter gauge died, showed nothing, next fill up it was back to normal. Gas gauge still not working right BUT the low fuel light does work so we be good.

Weather was perfect I now Have the MANGET1 T-Top tan, but with the addition of the Dave Mooney design for the "seat back spacer" my back feels great!

Mama & I left out around 6:30-7am, hit a major storm in Ardmore OK, then nuthing but wet roads until we got within 5 miles of the house...then nuttin but RAIN. Been rainin ever since. We pulled in around 10pm.
We did make it safely, tho, no problems attall.

Hope EVERYONE made/makes it home in one piece....or at least has all the pieces....

Had a purdy gud time....more to come later...me tard... time again....

Great C3VR minds must think alike Chuck.... I took this 1 a few years back (click here to see). I made an update at the C3 Fest because the scenery is much better behind the sign now and it honors a great group.

Glad to see you got your baby back safe and sound it's a gorgeous car!

Pete and I hit the road just after 6:00AM on Sunday.  Drove through a little rain before stopping in Bloomington for gas and breakfast.  Next stop was just north of Madison for a quick visit with his daughter and granddaughter.  Then just as we were pulling off the freeway to his home in Menomonie my phone rang - my wife Patty was calling to tell us of the bad weather that was rolling through the Twin Cities and most of Minnesota and Wisconsin.  After checking the weather radar Pete called a neighbor to see if there was an empty stall in their garage I could borrow for a little bit.  So tucked "The Beast" inside and relaxed a bit while a hefty thunderstorm rolled through.  When it passed I saddled up and continued to head west.  Drove through some more rain but nothing serious.  Arrived back at "The Ranch" around 6:30PM.

Hit the road yesterday 6 am with Dave and Mary, Dan the car wash man, and the Ebo's (Al & Lori). Most of the day running together until everyone fanned off in their own direction. A quick stop at Dave & Mary's to load up, out for pizza together and back on the road again until 9:30 Pm. Got soaked at a motel (no not the rain, that came today) on I80 in PA in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of chain smoking construction workers hanging out.
Took a coffee to go in one of the motel's miniature cups at 6 am again and finally landed about 7:30 pm. Traffic in Southern New England can really stink.  On the bright side the first moron to pull out in front of me happen within 2 miles of getting home.
1,250 miles each way, a gazillion gallons of gas and 4 long days traveling for a 3 day event? Was it worth it? Some things in life are priceless and just have to be done.

Joel, I'm wondering if the storms you hit were the same ones that devastated Joplin, MO later on.  Glad the two of you made it through safely.

I left about 9 AM to try and get ahead of the storms.  Going North it was not bad at all, just a few showers North of Effingham.  I went as far as Pontiac, IL Sunday. (about half way for me)  Had a get-together at the family farm.  Too wet to do any farming, so drove home on Monday.

After lots of goodbyes we pulled out of Days Inn on our own heading for Plymouth, IN to stop off and visit relatives, hitting rain several times along the way and having to sit out a severe storm there before leaving for an overnight stop in Mansfield OH. Caught up to the storm we sat out in Plymouth and drove in it for hours since it was traveling in the same direction we were. Thankfully we pulled into Mansfield about 11:30 pm without rain having passed the storm we travelled in most of the night. Woke to rain again this morning but right now sun is out!! HOPE IT STAYS!!!

No rain ! Beautiful drive through Indiana & Kentucky on 64 to 75 through Louisville & Lexington through the Cumberland Gap into Tenn to 40 through the Appalachian gap between Knoxville & Asheville NC and then down the escarpment to G'ville. Took 10.5 hours to get to F'ingham  via 40 thru Nashville and the speed run home was 9 hours (avg 75 mph - much better route and all Interstate after 45 from F'ingham). Picked up a CanAm trike on the way home and he ran with me for about 400 miles. Roads were clear of radar and V1 picked up the only one out there. Fabulous ride home.

We were behind Dave - good thing I was in the vette & not our truck - I'd a given hima taste of his own stupidity.  He had no intentions of stopping - Dave's lucky there was enough room for him to move over - what a d$#%@&*^ !! (use your imagination) - (sorry I have zero tolerance for road idiots - especially those that drive for a living)
