For the past couple of years, I've been going to the spring Mecum auction held at the Indiana State Fair Grounds in May. I won't be able to go this year because I'll be cruising Rt 66 as I head to Effingham.
But if you're coming from the east and passing through, I highly recommend it. I typically spend 3-4 hours walking the facilities (almost everything is inside) and admiring the cars. No, I've never bought anything, but seeing some of the prices, someday, I hope to.
Parking is usually $5 and admission (I think) is $15. Not cheap, but I always feel like I got my money's worth. I see it as a car museum where EVERYTHING is for sale!! There are always lots of Vettes of every vintage. This year's special attraction is models of cars featured at the 1953 Motorama. Hmm, what car was introduced there that year?
