Sorry for such a long delay in thanking Larry, Mike and Steve for the fantastic job all of you did on the Gathering. We don't even know where to begin and tell you what a trip of a lifetime it was. Every adventure kept getting better and better. Wish we all didn't live so far apart. Next time we need to do this for a least a week. Can't tell you how much fun we had watching Steve at the Valve Cover Races. I especially want to thank Steve for his great insight and help on planning the route down the coast along with places of interest to stop on our homeward adventure. From Bend we went around Portland to Cannon Beach and stayed our first night. We stayed on 101 all the way down the coast until Arcata, Ca then headed southeast to Redding/Shasta Lake where we picked up I-5 S to Bakersfield then East to Barstow starting on Route 66 and then to Needles and Kingman,Az. and so on. The stop in Winslow,Az to see the "Eagles" corner was super. We stayed in some of the old Route 66 motels and really enjoyed the Biker's Bar in Devils Elbow,Mo (the entire ceiling was covered in donated bras-I think they had Victoria's Secret). We were stopping at so many places we didn't arrive home till Monday @10:30pm. While crossing the pan-handle of Texas we hit an area where they stripped all the blacktop off the interstate with very little warning-the car in front of us sprayed loose blacktop all over the front of the car-this time we really got a big crack in the windshield and most of the hood is filled with chips along with one on the drivers door for a total of $3116 We drove a grand total of 6,736 miles in 16 days. At one point we hit 32 mpg We'd do it all again in a heartbeat. Once again, THANKS for a great event-we have new friends associated with C-3's that we will not soon forget. Butch & Jani
