I'm convinced!!! As long as a problem doesn't develop in the next month. I know that the drive train, brakes,steering and suspension are solid. The only thing that I havn't look at is the wheel bearings. Are we there yet?Big smile

[QUOTE=dcherr]

I do almost all my own work on my 2 vett's.phew The 72 is on the ramps with the frontend all tore apart.Wits End I trailer mine because I don't like to put the miles on them and I still get better mileage with the GMC pulling the trailer than the driving the vett itself.

I get about 16 mpg on the highway with my F-250 diesel (not towing). I got about 14 mpg towing the vette to Carlisle last year. Only expecting 10 -12 mpg in the vette.DStoffel2011-04-20 16:06:18

Haven't check it in awhile but I'm thinking about 8 -10 with my GMC 3/4 ton and open trailer. No, I don't want to think about it.

I just finished a road trip back from Titusville, Florida, on the 1st of April, to Estero, Florida, and came back later in the afternoon on the 2nd. I was there for a 100 Years of Chevrolet celebration.

That trip was 4 hours/300 miles (door to door ONE WAY), and a half tank of gas. I averaged 75 mph...all this in a 1982 Corvette.

Good thing for bathroom breaks (two) along the way, each way...because that car will let u know you're in a Corvette!  Wink

Purred like a kitten as well...but the best thing about driving it that kind of distance is the thumbs-up and rubber necking that goes on when someone appreciates that era of Corvette.

Will I drive the car farther and longer? Probably not...for this trip even messed with my instincts of feeling 'safe and reliable' with such a vehicle. But it was darn fun pushing out my limits beyond previously set boundaries!

I would go with what your mind and fear factor allows you to do. Rely on instincts as well...so far that has pretty much gotten me though when drivng my '82. Its a 'feel' for sure, as far as my limits go...but as for others...who knows!

Drive it as much as you can I suppose...limits are made to be broken!
