It should be easy enough to verify this car.

Projected sales at $12,900. were ten per year (about a 90 day production time). Only 10 Phase III GT's were actually sold between '69 & '71. Rosen still retains the original VIN numbers of all Motion Corvettes. It is thought only 3 GT's currently exist.

That am NOT a boner-fide Motion car...I see too many things that support my swag. See iffin ya'll can see what I can...and what I don't see, that would confirm my suspicion.
Rosen is a d@*k, but if he saw the car in person, he would have told them if he had built it or not. He just wouldn't authenticate it without some $$$.

My guess is it was built from some Motion parts, which a lot of guys did. Most folks back then couldn't afford the cost of a new 'Vette AND the cost of Motion mods. So...they bought the parts, and did it themselves(or had it done).
Matter of fact...there is a guy in our local club that has one that was built like that. Rosen HAS authenticated that one, because he does remember the car as being built by another shop, from his parts.

Rosen used to be a stand-up guy, but he's had so many inquiries from people wanting him to say their cars were official Motion cars, he just doesn't want to fool with it anymore...for free. I kinda see where he's coming from...

Like the L88s, there are more "real" Motion cars out there now than were ever built to start with!

Hey just because I post up this stuff doesn't mean I believe it... I post most of them to spark interest and comments.

This vette in all likelyhood is not a Baldwin Motion Car. None the less it does have some potential to be a good clone or at least a sharp eye catching vette.

I view items on EBAY, CRAIGS LIST, TRADER MAGAZINE, etc. daily and I take all of them with a grain of salt.

My .02 on this car is that if the seller actually has a remote thought this is a true BALDWIN MOTION CAR then it would'nt be on EBAY. He would have called PRO TEAM or any of the other large Hustle A Buck, Vette Dealers and it would have sold.

All that said I still think it would be a great project car and I wish I were closer to check it over. (The old girl still deserves some respect.)

There is a difference between "Baldwin/Motion", and "Motion" cars. Lot of folks get the two confused. The Baldwin/Motion cars were ordered new thru Baldwin Chevrolet, then Rosen did his magic to them, and sent them back to Baldwin for delivery.

Rosen also did other cars...not just the Baldwin deals. Those are known simply as Motion cars. The thing am, the actual Baldwin/Motion cars are the more sought after. That don't make the regular Motion cars any less valuable, tho.
I agree the car should be fixed, and returned to it's former glory. It is a neat looker. Just cringe when someone lists a car like that as something it's prolly not. Just hate to see some goob spend money on a car that turns out to be a local body-shop custom, instead of the real deal.
Ya'll remember what Ben's car used to look like? Everyone thought it was a Motion car, and it may have had some actual Motion stuff, but...was it really one of Rosen's? Who knows?! Does Ben love(or hate) it any less? Prolly not!

Dang, Tux-dude....you like stirrin the pot, eh?

It's going to take $6-7K to get it bought. If you do I volunteer to go down and help you drag it home.

Of course we will have to stop by some friends of mine and visit along the way.....

I am watching it on myebay, lets see where it goes. I am not ruling it out but I was thinking of a nicer car to start with and maybe doing a body kit and a huge engine in an already met bubba Corvette.

That would be a huge project, but so cool to have all put together.  I am thinking the perfect color would be either red or white. LOL

Well lets see, Red with white interior would be HOT. The 427 could be sent out for machine work while the body is off with the frame being completed. Perfect Choice could do the interior real nice.

Uh, I almost forgot. We better ask Suzy what to do before you get carried away. She would definately need to add some input here since she would be a stockholder.

It would be a great way to break that new garage in though!

I agree.  Rosen has maintained his records and, for a fee, will verify whether the car is actually one of his or a clone.

Think about it:  The ebay seller has what he/she says might be a Motion car but won't pony up the fee for Rosen to verify it.

If YOU had what could possibly be a Motion car, wouldn't you verify it, especially so if you were wanting to sell it?

Cool Looks to be an LT1 with the gutter filled in and a stinger scoop added on top. My guess is that they roughed out an original LT1 and made a mold for hand laying the fiberglass....

Yeah I saw where he was on the reserve.... whew.... I sent him an inquiry concerning the vette. My parents are in FLA right now and my dad could swing by and check this out for me depending on the sellers reply to my questions. (1 of which concerns the reserve).

We'll see how it goes from there. It sure looks like a ton of lovin to be done to me though.....
As you probably noticed, I let it go. Its just a little more work than I want to do for the return. I would like to know the reserve on it though. I asked , no one responded.

I asked again , lets see if he responds.

I was thinking that I might go 5 grand on it last time but the more I think about it and look at it, I am thinking $2500.00 is big money for it.
None the less it does have some potential to be a good clone or at least a sharp eye catching vette.
I agree with Tux, who could ever find or even afford the real thing anyways.  That looks like a great project car (way above my abilities) and I love the way it looks without the headlights molded into the body.  That was the only thing I didn't like about most the Motion Vettes.

Nice find Tux Clap

assuming for a moment that it was a Motion. How much $$ would have to be put in, including labor to make it right, and would the final product be worth that investment. What would a redone motion vette sell for ??
50k,100k more ??or less?
I would think to  bring this baby back you are looking at every bit of 40-50k. just my .02

Here is one of the last sold Baldwin Motion cars...3 yrs ago this car was purchased for somewhere in the neighborhood of $250.000.

KEVIN SUYDAM'S 69

This is how the frenzy started....

JOEL ROSEN

Intertwined into Corvette History

Special Sharks

I liked this TEXAS CAR article...
LARRY CLAINS 1970

My guess is a good clone is worth its weight to the right buyer and would be a beautiful sight in anybodys garage..... maybe like this one ...

67 SHOWCAR 1970 PHASEIII

Here is my EBAY reply:

Your very welcome.... We are getting information daily from every Baldwin expert from around the world. Just like the last time, this ad really generates the good questions and some good and bad comments. I don't post my responses for all to see because it isn't fair to do so without the other parties permission. As far as new info goes we trailered the car to a Corvette show in Kissimmee, Florida this weekend and received alot of positive comments on it. A New Yorker looked at the car and gave us his card. He said he is restoring a documented Baldwin Corvette and saw alot of things about this car that he has on his Baldwin that can only be found on Baldwins. He also said some of the parts are 1970's GM vintage, better than his replacement aftermarket parts. So please contact Frank at the number provided to arrange for the inspection or if you have any other questions. As far as the bottom dollar goes I'd bid to own it or hit the buy it now button. Just like last time, we have had alot of calls and messages. If the bids are simular to last time they will come during the final hour only this time it will meet reserve and sell. Thanks for the questions. Mark

I gotta call call Bull S*** on this. If you were the owner and had even the slightest notion that this was/is/could be a bonafide car, you would spend the money to verify it either way. Especially knowing how much more money you could get if it was. I think he knows it's not for real and is just trying to make some $$$.

larry, in it`s day it was a really nice car. I think 50k is conservative for resto- and without the documentation of a Balwin-Motion car, it`s a part car at best, maybe some high$$$ bigshot that has nothing better to do wqith his money will pick it up and re-build it.
