Let the fun begin!  Fortunately the frame appears to be in excellent condition.

Thought seriously about a complete restoration.  Unfortunately, the motor, while the correct size, is apparently not the original block as the serial number does not match.  Everything else is original according to the numbers, so I'm really trying to decide where to go with the entire project.  I can keep it all original except for the motor, or change everything (colors and all).  As I currently see it, while I'm working on the frame & suspension, I have plenty of time to decide before tackling the body and interior.  Probably gonna end up somewhere in between.  Thought I'd throw in another couple of pics (day of purchase, body, & frame).  Been too cold (even with a heater) in the garage here in Northern Indiana to do much the last several days.

Likely change of plans.  First, the small block is not the orignal engine, but the car is an L82.  Just so happens that an early 70's 454 sort of fell into my lap - it is in good running condition and the price is ridiculously low (from a friend).  Pretty good chance that the L82 is gonna become a big block car - after some upgrades to the engine.  Everything I've researched says that this is practically a bolt in - other than the front brackets for the A/C, alternator, etc.(?).  Anybody have any advise or thoughts?  Wanna make sure I'm not being naive or silly.  Thanks.

It will physically bolt in with no problems. As you mention, the front accessory brackets will be different, and will the exhaust.
You'll want to upgrade the front springs for sure, and possibly the rear. All big block cars had rear sway bars, so if your car doesn't have one, you should seriously consider adding one. You'll also want to consider a radiator change to one with more cores, or an aftermarket type that is more efficient. Keeping a big block from blowing its cool is prolly the biggest problem faced with a Shark era car. Thumbs Up

Had a couple of decent days (over 40) - which I tried to take advantage of.  Still dis-assembling, but starting out slowly.  I expect to get rolling strong once it gets warmer.  I did roll the frame out to power wash it and get some detail pics to help with reassembly somewhere down the road.

Will probably let it go with the 355 I pulled out, if I end up selling it.  Waiting for it to warm up enough here to power wash without freeeeezing.  So tired of this.  I'm sure you don't have that problem in Texas!!!  BTW - some of my wife's family live in Duncanville - small world.  Still only 35 degrees in the pic I took last night after removing the tank and exhaust!

Bbrrrrr! That's just too cold. It was a balmy 80 deg here yesterday, and got down into the high 40's overnight. Weather here changes by the minute, tho. Have a possibility of tornaders coming thru this evening!

Bet you'll be glad to get that thing back together and driving! Tongue

Over 60 today - got a lot done after work.  All brake and fuel lines removed.  All four calipers removed as well as e-brake cables.  Nice to feel like I'm making progress.  Talked to one of my co-workers today about possibly dipping my frame in our acid tank used for cleaning coils of wire plus running it through our phos tank (transation: save a few bucks).

So ready to start reassembling - got 3 of 4 upper and lower A-arms disassembled.  I've sandblasted and painted the uppers.  Taking the lowers apart really sucks.  Just came in from the garage and I'm tired.  Trying to decide whether to start at the front or back first.  Think I'll start on the front just because I'm closer to having some parts ready - still have to purchase new springs for the big block, though.

Been a while - been busy with 2nd daughter's wedding.  But I have had time to get a few small things accomplished.  Been working on the headlight assemblies - but I haven't downloaded any pics yet.  Here's a shot of engine compartment progress.  I have decided (with the help of family) that the new color will be corvette yellow.

Bob, do you have any pics of the new header install? I bet there's lots of folks here that would like to see, for one, where it is, and two, how it goes in. Lots of these cars have header rivet problems, so it would be kewl if you had some pics to share on yours. Thumbs Up

Worked a little more today.  Trying to decide if I should leave the chrome versus repainting.  Kind of like it, but certainly not original appearing.
