Here is a picture of mine when I bought it that best shows the location.  Mine is a '74 also.

This helps, thank you very much.  When you have an opportunity can you measure the distance from the fender line to the bottom of the emblem.

I  greatly appreciate it.

Thanks again.
Chris

If the holes for the emblem have been filled in, you can look underneath the panel and see where they are. From there you can drill thru the bondo, or whatever was used to cover the holes.
I can get the measurement from the AIM when I get home later, if needed. Thumbs Up

AIM is not showing any measurements for the front emblem holes....leads me to believe the holes for it were punched/drilled when the hood surround was molded, or they used a template on the assy line. AIM does give measurements for the side "Stingray" emblems, tho....Ouch
I can measure the dimensions on mine, tho, and post...Thumbs Up

Here ya go....  Wink

Joel and Dyoes, after reading your post, I inspected the underside to see if I could locate emblem holes and sure enough I found two nipples of paint or body filler.  I am excited!  However, I need your guidance on how I should proceed.  It is not easy to see and manage underneath to tap a hole and I don't want to chip the paint on top.

What do you think?

Respectfully,

Chris

What I would do, is remove the lower valance panel from underneath the front of the car. That will give a plenty of room to get to that spot, plus give you a lot more visibility. Then, carefully sand down, or remove as much of the bondo/body filler as you can from where the holes are.  On the top side, put a couple of pieces of masking tape where each of the holes should be. Get a small drill bit....maybe 1/8" or smaller, and try to drill up thru the bondo in the center of the holes, from underneath. Once you have some small, pilot holes, you can then drill the holes to size from the top, saving the paint. If you happen to make a boo boo, the emblem will cover it anyway. If the paint chips slightly around the holes when you're done, you could put some nail polish(or touch-up paint) over it to help keep the paint from peeling in the future.
If you go slow, and carefully, you should be able to get the holes opened back up with no problems. Thumbs Up
