I recently replaced the rusted out hood hinge supports (the ones that rivet to the inner fender well) on my 72.  Now trying to put the hood back on and having a difficult time aligning it in the opening.  (Already caused some major paint chips!)  Anybody have any hints for getting the hood to align so I have an even gap all around?  I tried elongating the hinge holes to allow some movement but still having issues.  Can anyone recommend a good body shop in Central NJ that specializes in Corvettes.  I'm in Hillsborough.  Thanks!

I have a little problem with mine not being even all the way around. Our 72's did not come with the rubber alignment blocks. I have wondered if we might be able to install these to help with this problem. What I have done is use some strips of card board as spacers and leave the hinge bolts just a little loose. Close the hood with the card board along the sides and front. Then gently open it and tighten up the bolts. Must be a better way but thats all I could think of when I put mine back on.
