one of the items i need to take off before i start painting.
I dont want to damage it as i can imagine it will be a pain to get a replacement shipped to the uk.
thanks again look forward to your replies.
I havnt been on for a while been house building, but ive done my bit for the wife now so i should get some time back on my vette,

Hey Brian,

Good Timing. I have some of the trim off of my car so I snapped a little tutorial for you. Get yourself a windshield trim removal tool. You'll see it in the pictures below.

You'll first slide it underneath the trim and use oue of the outside corners to locate the plastic trim retainer clips.

Once you've identified a clip (you'll develop a feel for this), you'll need to use the outside corner of the tool to pull the clip inward, away from the fiberglass opening:

The trim will normally pop up, from the retainer. Start from the ends of the trim piece and work your way toward the middle. By starting from the ends, you can apply some gentle upward pressure on the trim to coax it away from the retainer.

The retainers tend to be brittle at 30 years of age. Some of mine broke so I replaced them. The clips are readily available, however, in a few areas, you can not get the retainers in without removing the window. Here's a close up of the retainer being pulled by the tool:

Pictre of the tool:

Good luck!

Cheers mate!

thanks for that,

i thought that there must be a special tool for this, it looked like overclips i suppose they cover the joints in the strips,

im usually quite good with this sort of problem but it so easy to damage trim parts especialy from this age of vette.
thanks for the help.
again,
great to talk to you,
cheers,
Brian
