This is from a mag article on B-M Corvettes:
The front end is radical, featuring scoops and headlight buckets that might be from a Datsun 240Z. Even Schorr didn't know. "Most of the cars came through without the covered headlights 'cause DMV rules and regs changed. So only a few of the early cars came through that way," he says.

Apparently, the taillamps are Firebird. The gas cap is LeMans-style. Wheels are Ansen. The bumper and grille are stock. The side louvers are stock but "flipped," and the hood is full custom, making another bold statement about performance.

You can have my lights if you want to dissect them to see if you can match numbers.

Hi Mike,
I just noticed this post.
As far as the headlights- I believe they are from the jag XKE.
the datsun 240 z was not yet made when Joel started using those headlights.

As far as the reverse gills, I believe Joel just turned them around originally, but then Motion had a set of front quarters with them that was sold though the catalouge. I have a set of front quarters that I bought 2 years ago from corvettes at carlisle. SORRY, NOT FOR SALE.. Unhappy  I was going to cut the gill portion out but could not bring myself to destroy them. I am saving them for the next project.
So i made my own reversed gills. you can see how i did it in my restoration listed with my signature. Let me know if it helps you.
I was tempted many times to buy that front end you have! I just wasn't ready for that big of project of replacing the front end.
I would enjoy seeing what you are doing.
hope this helped.
Joe
PS: please correct me if any of this info is incorrect.

Rosen did indeed actually cut out the fender louvers, and them flip them around so the "gills" would be sticking out. On the front end parts sold across the counter those vents were molded like that to start with, since the mold was taken from a front that had already been "Motion-ized".
The simple way to do this is to just cut the fender around the vents, and flip it around, and then glue it back together. Basically, just cut a square out around the vents...like cutting a hole in the wall or ceiling to install an A/C vent.
A little bonding glue, some grinding/filing, some putty, primer, and paint, and viola!

Thanx guys.  Since I don't have a 68-69, I don't have the gills to cut out.  And besides, my front clip is spoken for IF I go ahead with the project. Your explanation makes perfect sense.

As far as that goes, DaveM has convinced me NOT to go ahead with the Motion project.  Brought me to my senses.  So you can blame him!  Ermm Actually, I was torn between selling the clip or making the conversion. Thanks Dave . . . you da man!  And most of all, Robin thanks you!  Hug

The Motion front clip and B-M hood will go up for S-A-L-E.  Don't want to get rich off of the sale, but I do want to cover my costs, to include shipping.  Got a nice, professionally built crate to protect them.  Came from NJ with no problems. As you know if you follow The Bay, I bought the clip and hood for under $1,000.  The owner was asking $6,500 at one time.  Go figure.

I've also pretty much decided to sell the car this spring.  (Say it ain't so!!) Someone will get a good deal, as I've put a lot of time and $$ into this baby.  I may have a local buyer, but if that falls through, I'll offer it members first.  My first love has always been a C1, and I may jump back into a restoration if I can find the right car.

Thanks again for the advice and research.
