I know this isn't a new topic but I would like some feedback on fiberglass repair.  Going to be starting on my 75 soon and of course it always comes up that the fiberglass is smp.  Its over 40 years old do i need to worry about bonding with the new fiberglass or what product do i need to be using.  Not planning on doing this twice.

Cindy, if your doing any crack or panel repair, FG resin and mat as shown in Peter's reply is the way to go. If you are bonding any new panels or reinforcements from the backside, I prefer to use 3M Panel Bonding Adhesive, their P/N 08115. I've used this several times to re-bond that pesky headlight reinforcement bar underneath the front panel that the headlights mount to. Be sure to check yours to make sure it's securely bonded. Those things like to pop loose with age and the weight/action of the headlights. Both surfaces need to be clean, dry and free of previous bonding materials. It is a two part epoxy like material that comes in a two part tube that requires the use of their special gun but it works great. The special tip that comes with the tube perfectly mixes the two parts as you apply. Clamp the panels in place for 24 to 48 hours depending on temp and make sure you've got the panels where you want them the first time !! I have been able to order it from our local Orielly's auto parts for about $50/tube and I think I paid about $75 for the gun, a tube goes a long way. Hopefully you can find a source for this or a simular product in the Great White North !! Check out the 3M website for more information. If it looks like you may go in this direction, I would gladly ship/loan you my gun. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Cindy, sorry for the confusion, FG I was referring to was for "fiberglass", no brand name intended. Keep us posted on your progress.

Once my front bumper got badly damaged in an accident, but it was not just a crack, there were many and one piece even was missing. I considered different sorts of repair, but no body shop wanted to take the order and warranty the service. that's why I had to go with a new bumper cover (https://www.carid.com/bumper-covers/), and as a result am happy with the way it all worked out for me, as I have a solid part which seems anyways more reliable to me.
