I just found and retrevieved a '75 coupe from Florida and need to pull the body of the frame. I was wondering if anyone had a set of plans for a body off stand/cradle that I could build, preferable out of wood.

Thanks in advance.

Jeff

Jeff, I have a load of pictures of the frame that I built. I'll have to resize them and get back to you. Also I'll give you all the dimensions. I posted one picture but it's too large.

Larry once they are uploaded and before you post them in the reply you can resize them reduce both hor and vert by 50% and try it then if horz pixels is say 1220 use 610 just cut it in half both horz and vert so pict is not skewed or they will look like Joels first avitar of his vette.
Plus that frame is way over engineered!!!
No way that car will ever be finished....let me know when I can come pick it up!

That looks like just what I need. A build sheet for that would be great in the help section Thank you.

I still have to look for the drawing. To bad you weren't closer, I'm just about finished with it. For information every Upright piece of wood is cut perfectly to match up where the holes are for the body mounts. I put a large stainless steel fender washer and 4 inch bolt through the opening, into the upright pieces. You could drive around with my dolly. It actually moves with one hand. I also used treated lumber................you can't over engineer...........take that eboWink

Actually after seeing it without the car covering it, i would have put more support braces across those long runs at least 18 inch on center and tied in across the bottom to prevent twisting.     Just Sayin............Wink

A friend of mine (another Corvette Owner) basically said the same thing. He also thought that with that lenght that it would sag in the middle. That was not the case. I also fabricated a front mounting area under the radiator housing shell. I had to angle a couple of 2x4s upright, fastened a 2x4 accross them lining up with the radiator shell frame, then used two more long bolts to support the front fender section. So to sum up the body is supported be ten different mounting points, all where it's  the stongest. there isn't the slightest flex. even the ebo could sit in it without flex.

Hi Mike, I used body dolly plans from  The Corvette Restoration Page, just follow links for some great blueprints. All built from wood, cost me less than $100. Good luck.
