I did.. however its only a 2.25 inch gain... still not enough... its looking like I have to eliminate that spacer... but I don;t want to use that as an option... maybe I'm missing something...

Louis, what are your plans for driving habits? Is the spacer that important that you're needing to modify the body and/or buy another hood? I have a Barry Grant carb on top of a Performer air gap manifold with a drop base air cleaner and a 2" element on a healthy small block and it's an animal without a spacer. Granted, there's probably a couple of HP that the spacer would pick up, but....not sure it's worth the body mods...

Just food for thought. Good luck which ever way you decide to go...

How about using a shorter air filter to bring down the height?
K&N makes all sizes.
Or maybe that in combination with a shorter spacer?
I'm not an experienced mechanic, but it came to mind.

Keep us posted and we're lookin' forward to your pictures when you can post 'em.

Hey yall I finally paid the 15 bucks so I could come back and post. Here is what I was told by an old schooler. Taller plenum = Top end gain, shorter plenum = low end gain. Are you going to notice the spacer? probly not. I got the same issue which is why I'm going to the L-88 hood.

Hey guys....
I thought of those rectangular cleaners, but I'm not usre thye would allow maximum air flow. I know when that carb gets kicked on its gonna suck down air, but the volume that the air cleaner can allow at a given time may not be enough. Plus is that holley cotton gauze washable like the K and N?

The spacer I have to keep, it produces such good amounts of torque and HP for the price and keeping the fuel cooler is a huge plus!

Don't wanna supercharge right now, don't think I ever will, plus too much $$... any hood options?

L-88 baby, I'm getting one and I'm going to open it up on the from just like that scoop you got. If you do a google image search motion corvettes you can see some hoods done up like that. Basically the L-88 with a scoop glassed in.
I have a 700R4, the dude who told me to use it actually is a douche and two other guys are telling me they can build a race trans out of a TH400 and or a TH350 for $1,800 and I'll be much happier.. which actually saves drivline cutting, crossmember changing, ect...
use the 700r4, youll get a much deeper first gear (better off the line performance) and the drivability improvement with the overdrive.
