After some months of storage, my hood latch on my 1975 Conv did not release the hood.  I am lost as how to start to open the hood.  Before driving it any distance, I would like to check the oil and tranny fluid. ANYONE, PLEASE HELP ME!  WHAT METHOD SHOULD I USE TO OPEN THE HOOD?  Cry

Is the cable broken? If so here is how I opened mine. Had to do it a couple of times so I have 2 methods. There is a hole through the firewall but it could have a plastic plug in it. If so pop it out. The hole is located on the left side above the brake master cylinder in the wiper well. Feel around, you will find it. Take a screw driver or stiff rod an slide it through the hole. You will need to move it around until you contact a tab that is on the latch lever. Then push and it will release the latch. It will take awhile and may be a bit frustrating to find the right spot.
The second method I used was to remove the triangular cover on the bottom of the fender that fills the opening between the frame, fender and wheel wheel. Reach your hand up through the opening an feel around above the brake master cylinder. You will feel a little tab hanging down from the hood. Push the tab towards the front of the vette.
