There will be some variations in the diverter depending on when the car
was built. Very early cars will have a rubber strip that is glued in
place. Most cars had a fiberglass strip that was glues on. On very late
production cars the strip will be riveted on.
The NCRS Judging Guide shows the fiberglass strips started "at least by VIN #6,612",
and were glued on to about 28,242. Then sometime after that, the strips
were riveted in place. The AIM revision for the addition of the rivet was February 10th, 1969, but of
course, it could have been before or after that since the notes in the
AIM aren't necessarily the exact date the change was made. Hope this helps.
