The rains from Elaine driving back from Carlisle, showed I need to reseal my rear window.
I know there are 2 main holding clips and a bunch of smaller ones all around the molding. do how to go about it without
messing up the molding is something I need to know before I start the work. I am not in a rush, so after SHOW season is over, I will do the work.
My molding is in A1 shape so don't want to scratch it up.

Gary check out "Eastwood" they offer a tool kit for moulding removal, for sure you do not want to mess those up. Alot of times they also have a youtube video to go along with it.

You can buy a window trim removal tool at most parts houses....prolly around $10 or less. Use a lot of patience, and you shouldn't have any troubles, or damage anything...
In the image below, the tool on the bottom is the window trim tool, the one in the middle is for removing the clip for the older style window cranks, and the one on top is for pulling door panels with the plastic push-pin type fasteners...

You want to use the tool on the left on joel's picture. I actually posted a how to on this a couple of years ago but the thread search tool is out of service right now...

What I can tell you is that there are several of the plastic clips around the rear window and they are brittle so be gentle!! One of the outer points of the arrow grabs the side of the clip, GENTLY - pry the clip in toward the center of the window and you should feel/hear the trim "pop" free from the clip.

If you're ever in the NJ area and want to do this, I can do this in my sleep!! I also have a few tricks for replacing the clips with the window in (technically, you can't get new ones in unless the window is out...)

Good luck.

Thanks Guys,

I picked up a set of various Molding tools at Harbor Freight last week while I was down in Gaithersburg Md on some work related tasks. I'll see how they work (or don't).

WellI have had no luck installing new clips with the window in so I called around for someone to remove the window and let me install the clips so they will work.... No one wants to touch it they say the window will probably shatter removing it and they were unable to get me  a price on a new rear window??? so still open to suggestions and I really don't want to remove the good rear window???

I realize this is an older thread..Hopefully you have solved the problem.
IF NOT:
A COMPETENT glass man should be able to remove the window glass, clean it and the body, install the 21 plastic new trim clips, re-install and seal the rear window and THEN attach the rear window surround molding-trim..
You simply must find a glass installer who has the experience and know how to tend to the issue..
Good luck, JIM

Yes finding the one is not easy. Talked to one the other day and still concern of breaking the glass and where are you going to get a new one and $$$$$$. So I will try one more thing and if not then its pull the glass!  I don't want to bugger up the new paint anymore dealing with a simple light weight piece of chrome trim.  I got the windows in and trying to line them up is a real treat???????
Thanks for all the info again.
