I'd go with the AC shocks...they'll do for all but the most sporting purposes.  If not AC, I'd spend the money and get a set of Edelbrock IAS shocks...as good as shocks get.

I had KYB gas a just on my 71 convert, and switched to blistein sport shocks the ride was like night and day. I know it was better because the wife noticed it and she just doesn't care about car stuff so that just goes to show you the differance. You can pick up a set for about 235.00 if you shop around and it is worth you time.............my .02

I found a tool called a shock removal tool..looks like you thread it on and hit it with a hammer..Mid America has it for 17 bucks..part number  602706..can also replace the shock mount also..if needed.

Rick now that's a Shocker, clocks usually never work on a Vette.

Other than original I have only used KYB so can not tell you if others are better. I do know that after a long winters nap that baby is a hard ride..........love it....miss it.....come on Spring 74 more days.........Big smile

For Judging purposes, it won't really matter what shocks they are...they're not gonna be original anyway. However, the AC/Delco shocks receive a smaller deduction because the are at least a GM part.

The car is  in Texas..so getting the shock mount off isn't likely to be an issue. The ones on my '74 slid right off. Tongue

I just install a set of Bilstien Shocks on my 72 last spring. Really made a difference from the old worn out Bilstien's that were 30 years old. Before that that I had a set of Koni's that I installed when the stock shocks went south.

Just keep in mind, the shock you want depends on what you want from the car.  Best handling does not equate to the best ride.  First decide what you want from your Vette, the take another look at what shock you want.
