I am in the process of putting new weather stripping on a 75' with Ts. I removed the rail that holds the stripping over the window. ALL the screws were rusted/busted/stripped so I drilled them out. Is there a kit, or an alternate way to attach this rail, as the inner rail the outer rail is fastened to is gone? ALSO it sounds as if all the rust/dirt/inner rail is rattleing around in there. Is there a way to get this out? Can these rails be attached with pop rivets? Can it be stuck fast with adhesive and no screws? I only have one apart, and do not want to get involved with the other one till I find out if I can cure the problem. THANKS,Confused   Mark

I did my weatherstrips within the last two years. I assume your weatherstripping is held in with plastic push pins. The rusted screws probably are rolling around inside the top. Often when removing old weather stripping, the push pins also break off and fall inside the tops. I don't know anyway to get them out without cutting into the top. I would not do that. I am sure someone else will post with some ideas. Also I use 3M weatherstrip adhesive around the perimeter to bond the weatherstrip to the tops. Be sure to wipe down the fresh rubber with alcohol to remove any release agents that may be left over from manufacturing.

My MAIN concern is the lack of a way to attach the rail the strip goes  on above the window, now that the screw holes are gone/nothing to attach to/just a slot. Is there another way to fasten it? THANKS   Mark
