Hello again, I am going to replace the body mounts on my 1975 and have removed the front bumper. I am going to save some cash and fix the urethane bumper with the bumper repair kit and the new 5 piece retainer. The repair kit comes with flexible urethane tubes and I was wondering if any one has used this from Corvette Central and could tell me something about how they used it and the results. I also was wondering if any one could tell me all the parts I have to disconnect to lift the body to replace the body mounts, Help and Thanks ZAPPAREX

??? Tubes? Like glue sticks, or what? I have a plastic welder that uses sticks that look like glue sticks, but are urethane, specifically for bumper repairs....is that what you are referring to?

Hello Adams" Apple, The description is for 1975-2004, A flexible epoxy repair compound for the auto body, which sets in 6-8 mins. It has strong adhesion to all surfaces plus excellent paint adhesion. use to repair cuts, holes, tears and gouges on rubber panels, and and filler stripes ( except polyethene and polyprolene. I was also thinking of putting rubber strips under the upper part of the  bumper to lift it a bit in a couple of lower areas. Thanks for the reply ZAPPAREX

Sounds like an awful amount of work   Why not replace with a Tru Flex bumper? It's work too but it will give you a more permanent solution to the polyurethane bumper cracks/splits and eliminate future problems. Here is just one example...most Corvette parts vendors carry them in some form or another.

I agree with Dan,True Flex bumper is the way to go. I put one on my car three years ago and it looks as good now as when it was put on.

Danascar, Thanks for the reply and it is probably the one I am going to get in the future, but I don't have enough cash to spead around at this time. I am replacing  the body mounts and had to remove the front bumper, so the repair kit is the plan fo now. I am also in Canada and to ship the bumper and the cost is going to be $ 400.00 plus. I am getting the car on the road by July 25th and I am running out of time. Thanks ZAPPAREX

Find someone with REALLY small hands, and have them help!
Actually, the best way is to remove the front grills, and the lower valance & air dam. Raise the headlights UP. You'll need to lay on yer back, and get all the lower ones from underneath, of course. Chances are, you'll wind up twisting most, if not all of the studs off anyway, if the car has any rust at all on it.
You can soak the ones you can get to with WD-40(or whatever you use) for a day or so before trying...it might help on a couple of them. Just go slow...tighten the nuts a little first, before trying to loosen them. Sometimes, that helps break them loose. Good Luck!!

Thanks Joel. Actually I should have said the back bumper, but your advice will work there also. I read somewhere else that a small arm and long sleeves is the best. Wish me luck, I'm going in

Heck..the rear bumper cover is easier than the front!! The studs are more likely to snap on the rear, tho, since it gets more crap stuck up in there.

I made a template out of thin cardboard, traced it onto the cover(s), and drilled a few small holes. Then I used a dremmel with a rotary file to get the finished shape. Of course....I did this AFTER the covers were painted....
