Just replacing all the weather stripping on my 76, looking for any hints that may help out before I get started. Weather strip arrived the other day and I have bought some black 3M, look to get started right away. Have stripped the interior except the steering wheel and dash, repainted floor and installed heat shield and sound barrier so wish to tighten her up before putting in the new carpet and seats. Thanks, Eric...Smile

Make sure the door weather strip is aligned correctly using the original placement as a guide so you don't get black goo on the inside door jambs. Once in postition and the adhesive cures a bit, close the doors and don't open for at least a day. Done a few C3s like this and all came out well.

Wipe the new weatherstrip down with some alcohol(the rubbing type...not the drinking type) to remove any leftover release agent. That stuff(release agent) will keep the 3M from bonding/sticking to the strip...

Brake cleaner will do the same job, if you have it. Adams' Apple2009-05-10 08:36:12
