Well I got the windshield out and cleaned up the area and found some darn rust, actually quite a bit. My question is this, is it possible to treat the rust and use a fiberglass filler on the area? Im trying to do this on the cheap (well actually I dont have a choice) and would like to avoid paying 450 for a new frame then paying someone to weld it in. My welding skills arent that good and only on TIG.

Glenn, thats exactly what I dis and seems to be working out fine. I used a fille called Fibrall. Great stuff!! I had a leak in the frame that would actually drop into the passengre compartment. After reparing, no more drips!! Thumbs Up

I'd say go for it of the frame is mostly still in tact structurally.

If there isn't a hole through the metal, just paint it with Eastwood's rust converter, or some other rust converter, and reinstall the windshield.  If the holes go through, still start with the rust converter, or the rust will soon push the fiberglass away from the metal.
