Okay I have been reading the posts about aluminium wheels and trying to shine them up. I think I have that down pat.

But I have several stainless items that scratch each time a cloth is wiped across them. Is there anyway that these can be brought back to mirror finish?

I have tried stainless cleaners followed by different polishes such as mothers. Nothing seems to bring satisfaction to me.

If I had it to do over I would buy chrome. I still may if I can't correct this.

Soooo, what say ye brothers and sisters of C3 knowledge? Is there such a magic potion at hand?

Tux, you probably know all this, but if you google or ebay "stainless polishing" you come up with lots of info and kits for sale.

My experiences were that  polishing was very time consuming,
but fun to do and easy..

When I did my door sills,  for the amount of time it took me, an option would have been just buying new ones.

Hey Tux. Now I have not yet tried this on stainless. However I used to make silver jewelry. I buffed the silver with a cloth wheel and used tripoli and rouge polish. Silver is a very soft metal so the first polish with tripoli takes out scratches, & the other polishes. I've often thought about trying it on stainless. It might work and sure wouldn't hurt anything tryin. You got my number if ya wanna know.......... Moore.............get it?LOL

Ive tried some of the stuff but never really got out the scratches to my satisfaction. I am hard to please ol ..... uh ... feller.

The other thing is some of this stuff is no so eay to remove from the engine compartment of the C5.

So I was kinda hopin y'all would tell me about some of your love potions and how to apply / remove them for that brilliant finish.

I had in my mind to try it on something off of the car 1st and once I had the finish the way I wanted it I was going to shoot it with clear laquer for kicks and giggles to see how it would hold up. (If that is even possible!)Tuxblacray2008-05-16 13:38:17

There are some places around that will polish your wheels and spray a coating to protect them. They do alot of work on semi truck wheels and show cars. You'll have to search this out in your area, I seen something on the bullitin board at work in the Portland area that offers this kind of service.Big%20smile
