anybody know of a super windshield cleaner, we have tried windex and paint thinner ,, i still have spots that look like they are imbedded in the window. Trying to keep the original window but must have been left outside for years before i bought it two years ago and started restoration |hammer|

Somebody, Ecklers or Mid America |headscratch| sells a polishing kit that comes with compound and a polishing wheel that fits a drill. Might be worth a try |thumb|

For polishing, the best thing I found is Windex and newspaper. The ink from the paper puts a nice high polish on the glass!

Eastwood sells the polishing kit for glass. I did 1/2 of mine and it sat outside and dew settled.(Rhodite)
The difference between the finished and unfinished 1/2's was amazing. It didn't take out the
tiny chips, but it completely eliminated the windshield wiper marks. Extreme care is required when
using it, though. And they have been easier to clean since I did it.

On the show car crazy they said to use Bon Ami. This is used on the ceran-top style stoves to clean off the burned on food. I tried it and it worked great removing all residue, bug spatters, and dirt. Just wet the window and sprinkle on the cleaner and polish in a circular motion. Then follow the with a cleaning of rubbing alcohol. The rubbing alcohol will leave no streaks.

Like After Shark recommended, "Bon Ami" cleanser.

It's cheap, and readily available at the local supermarket. It's OK'ed by the big glass manufactures for use of cleaning/polishing . It does a nice job.

Would a sponge be ok to apply and rub with?

should be fine, this way you will have plenty of mositure. I would read the instructions on the can. I have always used a sponge on my stove. When I tried it on my car I used a cloth baby diaper.
