Can someone tell me if the original steel radiator frame on my 77,a/c car, hold a 4 core rad? The original was much thinner then the 4 core I just bought.

Hey, mikeee,

The supports support the tanks, not the finned part.  I just installed a 4-core on the '80 and had to carve out the rubber rests inside the supports to accept the bigger tank.  Other than that, I had no problem.  It is a VERY tight fit, but it mounts well and once in, seems to have made a difference.  Won't really know until it gets up to 105 here in the summer.

Take your time and watch your hands.  Wear gloves if you have 'em.  The fins bite before you know it because they are much wider than before.

Good Luck!

I put a 4 tube core on my 76. You will need to cut your rubber mounts to except the wider core or you can by new ones which are for the wider core. The radiator brackets are the same its just the rubber insert that changes

BASICALLY THE L48 USED THE 3 ROW AND THE L82 USED THE 4, THOUGH THERE MAY BE VARIATIONS DEPENDING ON ACCESSORIES.

A/C cars would/should have the larger radiators, and big blocks, too.
You can change the rubber "saddles/mounts" to fit a larger radiator in where the smaller one was, and versa-visa.

ah-ha! a chance.
Early T's....dark green, red, gray, etc. the term any color as long as it's black came later in the teens when he was crankin out 3000+ cars a DAY,and couldn't offer different colors any longer. It would have slowed down production. My life is now complete,I answered a T question on a corvette website.
