Has anyone had this problem, I am having to replace the a/c dash slide panel for the 7th time in last 15 months. All switches, but for one, come from Eckler's. I tried ordering one from a place in Tenn., it lasted two days.AngryAngryAngry Gene

I'm with Ron I think I got mine from Zip  but they are probably made by all the same people. But doesn't that just control Vacume? On my 80 if memory serves right the fan switch is electric and the rest is vacume. Might be a cable binding.

No guys its not electrical, and the cable does not seem to bind. These things are put together in mexico. I don't know we will take another look on Wednesday. I'll let you know. Gene

What exactly IS going on with them? Are they melting, breaking, what? That's really weird...
Seems like I remember a thread about this before...still the same problem????

Hey Joel, thanks for remembering, yes this has really been a problem. A couple have broken, others had bad vacuum connections or would not distribute air and heat correctly. They would not close the air/heat door inside the dash. I trust my mechanic and have  watched him do this work. Ecklers says they got a bad batch and were good about repaying me for parts and labor, its just been a real pain. I bought this last one in September. These things were built in Mexico, need I say more. Gene

Don't know how much $$$ the Eckler's part is, but you may want to check with Paragon...maybe ax them where their's is made.

The reason I went with ZIP was because of this article.  Who knows if there all the same or not but I have not had aproblem with it in the two years since the install.

Either way good luck. I don't know about the 77 but its a pain to get at on the 80

Good luke Blue, I bought my first new unit on E-bay, It had a vacuum leak. Gene

Maybe mbarney but I won't know until my mechanic has a chance to look at it. I have problems from bad vacuum to broken internal parts.(honestly this is the seventh a/c panel in 15 months) I have jimmed this thing and now it  works on high a/c and the fan has to be played with to get the high fan to work so I don't believe its the vacuum. I think I have a broken part on the slide. Thanks to all you guys, I will keep you updated and I'm glad you don't have this problem, this thing has been a real thorn in my butt.
