Passenger side, pipe plug, with a red plastic tag on it(or should be...they do get lost sometimes).

Unless Im dreamin' isnt the plug on top of the pumpkin on the driveshaft side where it is impossible to drain unless you have a turkey baster?

The drain plug is on the part not their I thought I should add the 63-79 for others

Your 81 should have the "batwing" differential cover on it I believe.  The drain plug is on the passengers side rear of the differential cover.  Actually the entire batwing is the differential cover.  It takes a hex wrench to unscrew the plug, cant remember the size.

David, removing the spare tire tub makes it alot easier to get to.
