Can someone tell me what parts are needed to rebuild the trailing arms?  Better yet, can someone post a link to the rebuild kit and/or other parts that are needed?  I tried to find a rebuild kit with all the parts in one package but didn't find oneQuestion.  Thanks in advance.

With all the set-up involved it would be easier to send them out for rebuild using one of the vendors or VBP or VanSteel.

I can do better than that.... Call Jim Stevens @ 1-608- 365- 0911. He has the kits, arms, and more if you need it.

He also has an EBAY store TYLERSPARTS if you want to review a few of the items he has to offer.Tuxblacray2009-03-11 14:59:23

We also offer rebuilt trailing arms on an exchange basis.  Just one more option.

Micki:

Nope. Not yet.  Brother Phil and I are just now thinking about it.  I'm afraid what will happen (because our parents raised us both as perfectionistsSmile) is that we won't be able to stop at just the arms and we will end up pulling the body off the car and restoring the whole chassis tooLOL.  Seriously.  Wife would frown big time at the cost of that at this time.

But I really need to do get to work on the underside as I don't feel comfortable driving it out of town too far and I really want to be able to do that.  No one would know it as the top side of the car looks so good - how can the underside look so badCry

Found a trailoing arm rebuild kit at Van Steel

I also have someone who will rebuild for $150.00 each.  So that gets me at about $300.00 each to get mine rebuilt.  Wonder if it is better to just buy some new/rebult ones?  If I have them rebuilt then I don't have to bother with the core charges right?  And also I will still meet NCRS standards sine I will be using my original TA's?   Hmmm.

P.S.  Micki, if Phil hasn't told you yet, the carb he got from you last weekend bolted right in and his car fired up perfectly after install.  He didn't have to do anything to the carb but just install itClap

Tux, no I haven't called him yet.  I am finishing up another project right now on it.  I guess you could say that I'm beginning to think forward to the next critical project I need to do and that is the TA's.  I have another Vette buddy close by who has been twisting my arm to have his friend do the actual work rebuilding the arms (it's a guy who has rebuilt a good many already for other NCRS folks - and he also does full restoration projects on cars for folks).  My buddy told me that if I supplied the parts then his friend could rebuild them for $150 each.  So that was the reason for the original question.  I haven't even talked to the guy yet about it.

I will try to call Jim this week and see what he has to offer.  And I do really appreciate your suggesting himThumbs%20Up.  I'm just kind of slow getting going on it.

He is a great resource and will help you with your rebuild even if you choose to have your guy around the corner do the work.

For the $$$ that your buddy is talking about I would most likely go with a rebuild kit too.

Hey Tux, just talked to Jim about a set of offset TA's. All new for 900.00 with exchange of your old ones, must be in good shape for rebuilding. I do beleive he told me 250.00 to rebuild your TA's per side. Thats 100.00 less than anybody else per side.

I appreciate your help!

Micki, yes I've been working on him to give me a hand on this new project.  So far he's resisting somewhat.  We store the 'Vettes and work on 'em in his garage (he's single and thus can spend whatever he wants on his car hobby - and thus his 4 car AC/Heated garageBig%20smile).  I imagine I'll get to start on it (or at least the trailing arms) soon as the wife has ok'd the funding.

Also, since I posted that he was good on the carb, I followed him on a test drive this weekend and he had some issues.  We'll prolly have to get into the carb and take a closer look.

Hey Tux

I just tried calling Jim Stevens at 1-608-605-0911 and got a recording that said it was a non-working number.  Tried it twice.  Can you double-check that info for me?

Thanks
Roger

Thanks Dick for letting Roger know this. I don't know where the previous number came from ? I did a copy / paste and it came up terribly wrong.

I changed the number as well above so nobody else might be confused.

Roger I spoke with Jim today about your needs. He said he would be more than happy to sell you whatever you need. If you need additional advice for installation he would help you with that too.

He said if you wanted to get prices from other folks on the items you need he would certainly beat their prices. Not knowing exactly what you were wanting I couldn't be any more specific.

I gave Jim your name and location and told him you would be calling. Hope this helps you out.
