I am trying to repair the original alarm system in my 77. I believe I need the LH door lock switch. Has anyone ever ohmed one of these switches. The way I believe it should work is if you turn the key counter clockwise (ARM) then to center and remove the key you should have continuity, if you insert the key turn it clockwise (Dis ARM) and return to center and remove the key it should read open. The one that is in my door I believe is from an 81. The connector will not hook up to the connector in the door from the body. I can splice the wires, but the problem I have is if this door sw is hooked up the alarm will stay armed all the time. No mater how I install the sw to the lock pawl, the best I can get is when key is turn CCW I get continuity but when key is removed it will not stay armed. For Late 77 owners this is an issue if you order key locks, early locks will not accept the door sw. Make sure you order for late 77 ( no key switch on fender) . If anyone has issues with their alarm always being triped it could be the anti theft protector sw, witch is mounted to the retainer that holds the door lock pawl in the door and is tough to get to stay in place so that it is not acuated. just for info it is their so that if someone was to pry the door lock out it trigers the alarm, the door lock sw when closed allows any of the theft switches (Lh dr, Rh dr, Hood, later models T-Tops) to energize the anti theft relay which provides ground for flasher.

Your theory on how the switch works is correct, Bob. One way should show continuity, the other should show "E", or open. I may be wrong(it has been suggested I am wrong a LOT), but the later alarm switches may work differently, due to the electric door lock set-ups....
Sounds like the switch you have is just not gonna werk on your car.
