With the 68 Assembly Manual as a guide, I've been able to i.d. virtually all the wires in my relatively unmolested dash wiring harness (rh turn signal wire cut off, though!).
But: at the ignition switch there is a brown wire of equal length to the bulk ignition connector, with a female spade connector; I'd say 12 gauge. The Manual appears to show such a stub, and perhaps is indicating it wants to receive a pink wire from the bulkhead connector?  I do have a pink wire 12 gauge directly into the ignition switch.

And I do have ignition; i.e., I'm not aware of any problem this wire is causing. Can it be identified? Cheers from Down Under.

I believe that the brown wire was only to used for an accessory, making it not really needed. I don't have a 68 schematic.. I'm only going from memory. Maybe Joel will confirm this..

The only brown wire I see coming from the ignition switch goes to the alternator voltage regulator....
Without seeing the wire, or the connector, I could only guess it is indeed something for an option of some sort that your car may not have....

Thanks so much, the wire is next to the ignition switch, and of the same length; but is not part of the switch.  Barring an "OMG, that wire is for XXXXX", I'll assume it's a stub for an accessory, such as the alarm.  Cheers!

Harnesses always seem to have extra wires.........just hanging there for extra stuff. Sometimes that wire comes in handy. ................I see you guys call the hood the bonnet. Also I guess you would call the convertible top........the hood. Windshield.........windscreen. British blokes do that, also.Thumbs Up

Yes, the Aussies have picked up their terminology from the Pommies.  "Bumpers" are called "bumper bars", and you should hear the locals pronounce "Camaro" -- they say "Camarro".  When in Rome do as the Romans do, but in the case of American muscle cars, Rome is in USA!

Corvettes are rarely seen on the road here, unlike the 60s Mustangs which are plentiful (I had a 67); whether they be C3s or earlier/later.  Did see what must have been an 81 just last week, as it was still LH drive which local rules require m/b 30 years old minimum.  Might be many more Corvettes that are show cars only and not on the road.  The Corvette C3 Registry shows just a handful of Australian C3 Vettes here.  Any car with a build date prior to 01 January 1969 is fully exempt from the Australian Design Rules, and therefore only subject to general 'roadworthy' rules which are quite basic in most states (Vic's are lengthy but readily met).  Cheers.

That is a great looking car.  How about rolling it out some where with a good background and shooting some pictures for the Calendar.  They are due 15 October so you have plenty of time.  Make sure to check the rules.  It would be great to have a upside down.  Hug I mean down under Corvette on the calendar.  Mine is a year away from paint so I'm just envious of the great looking vetts a lot of you guys have.
