Hello,
My 427/435 HP Vette has a Condenser/Capacitor that is attached to the bracket that holds the TI coil to the intake manifold. The condenser attaches to the Positive side of the coil. The instruction pamphlet that came with the new Delco TI coil, #263, states that a condenser/capacitor needs to be installed with the coil.
As my current condenser looks like it is original 1969 equipment I would like to replace it while installing the new coil.
Does anyone know of a business that would have the condenser I need?
I have talked to a Corvette parts supplier and they only carry a condenser for a non-TI ignition. Their opinion is that the condenser is only for radio interference. If this is so I do not believe the Delco coil instructions would consider the condenser a must, as they state. I have also been told that a static test of my current condenser would not give an accurate reading when the part is under heat stress.
Any help would be appreciated as I am not an electrical expert by any means.
Thanks,
Mike C.
UPDATE Just found one on the Paragon Corvette Site
Still do not know if it is only for the radio only!
