OK not to hijack yet another thread, but what is that silver disc shaped part in the top right corner of the photo with what appears to be a vacuum line running into it?

Not a problem at all, that's why I posted it and glad it has helped others.  I save pics from the net that I find helpful and keep them in my "reference" section.

Thanks guys. Mine is a 1975. The fan works on every speed BUT high. There were threads on here talking about that specific problem but I can't get the search function to work. Keep getting a message that the search function is not available. Thanks for the picture. I will look to see if mine is the same.

Best,

Scott

The high speed blower works specifically off the relay, so if there is no high speed, chances are it is relay related, but it could also be due to a blown fuse link that powers the relay. There should be 12v at the relay any time the key is on, on the large red wire. The fan control switch closes the relay(orange wire). The burple wire goes to the blower motor.
If yer lucky, you can remove the can off of the relay, and file the points, and make it work like new again...unless there is something else damaged, such as it being melted.

Thanks Joel,

It's been working fine and when I got in the car Sunday, no high speed fan. I have not had a chance to look at it since I stored the Vette in a big warehouse, to protect it from Irene. I will take a look this weekend. Is the relay availble at the local parts store?

Scott, a real parts house(like NAPA) should have one in stock. Others might also stock them, but it has been many years since that type of relay has been used, so ya never know. Ya might give it a little love tap with a screwdriver and see if it works. If it does, then opening it up and filing the points will prolly get it blowin again for a few more years.

Sometimes, too...the frigging blower switch itself can act up, but I'm sure you worked it over pretty well trying to get it to blow. I know the one on my '74 sometimes needs a little wiggle to make a good contact...
