Well after a few cuss words yesterday afternoon, I got my new quartz clock mounted in the center gauge cluster. Works like a charm and is on the money after 12 hours. Clap

I tried to repair the original ticker a while back and she worked for a while but then just died again. Dead Funny thing is, I hooked to my tractor battery just for kicks and the sucker wound up and started running. Must have been from jostling it around...

For those of you not familiar with "how it works", the original clock (at least in 79) uses a set of points, like in an older distributor, to actually rewind a mechanical tick-tock mechanical movement. Every time the spring winds down, the points kick in and wind her back up before it stops. Neat but cumbersome idea compared to quartz...

Can anyone use an old clock? Free if u pay the S&H!!Wink  Good candidate for a quartz kit...

I installed quartz clocks in my '69 and the '78 I used to own.  Worthwhile additions.  Very reliable and accurate.  I don't think anyone who does the same will regret it.

Right on Bruce! Thumbs Up  it's also a very easy operation once the cluster is out and you can then clean the bezels, replace bulbs and tidy up the other gauges. It's a good winter project...Approve

Yeah Paul, I did the quartz clock a year ago and am as happy as a lark. Everyone told me not to do the mechanical clock unless you were going NCRS. They said the mechanical ones don't last long.

I bought the bowtie overdrive. Crossmember and mod kit for the shifter.

Barry, heard the same thing a few times...
