Continuing to learn far more than I thought I'd need to about 68 Vettes vs. the later years.

I'm discovering that the washer pump typically is mounted on the face of the wiper motor?  Mine, though, simply has a stamped plate on the front that covers the mechanism; and the pics I've seen suggest that the pump replaces that? Which makes me wonder why I've the plate and not the pump.

Anyway, info on how to have a pump on the 68 w/b appreciated.

Is the plate you talk about plastic as it is just a cover..take a pic of it if you can..68 was its own deal..like my 69..everything has to be difficult..?? Do you really need the washer pump??? It is a race car anyhow!!! Do the wipers work? Does it click when you push in the wash motor button?

I guess I didn't ask my question properly.  And I should've included a pic.

In my case, the wiper cover is an oem (and like several engine bay bits, chromed by the previous owner) with no provision for a pump to be mounted to it.

And so I should have asked:  my car is from the very first month of Shark production; at that time could they have been made without a wiper pump?
Or was the pump mounted in a different, remote location?  I'm not clear yet on whether there is even wiring for a pump on this engine harness.

A pump is required for the car to be road registered here in Australia, unless it gets a club rego in which case it can only be driven to and from club events and at no other time.
