New stereo have any installation destructions?
In my experience, the yellow wires are usually meant for the illumination of the radio/stereo face, the red would be power, and black, ground.
Some systems will also have more red(or even yellow) wires that will be "hot" all the time, so the system will retain it's memory/pre-sets, and clock settings.
Without the destructions, it's gonna be a little tough. A pic of the connector might help, tho. A lot of stereos have wiring diagrams on a paper label on the bottom, but I guess if your's had that , we wouldn't be discussing it now, eh?
