Hello all, first time posting, and a first time c3 owner. I've been reading topics, and have found some very helpful information, but I have a question, and I'm sure you all can answer for me. Finally got my hood to open thanks to the forum here, and I was looking at some things, and I noticed that the alternator mounting bracket appears to be upside down, as it sits atop of the power steering reservoir cap. I have a pictures . Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Got 2 '78's here, both with the original motors and your alternator bracket looks to be correct. Makes it a pain to check your power steering oil. Good old GM engineering. Lots of stuff is a pain to get at on these cars.
Welcome to C3VR. Lots of great info here. I can answer easy questions like that when it just requires popping the hood and taking a look.

Looks correct to me, too. Takes a little finagling to get the PS top off...especially if the engine is running....Unhappy

That's the same bracket and orientation as my '73 L82. Welcome to C3VR and let us know if you need any further assistance !!

Someone in the past added the fancy dress-up bolt kit for the timing cover and water pump!  Details like that cannot be overlooked!   Thumbs Up

Hello And welcome to the club. I have several Corvette SBC alternator brackets and you have the correct bracket  and looks like you have the adjusting arm with the belt shield attached to the adjustment bracket, however aside from a bolt missing on the bracket, you have the adjustment bracket bolted to one of the water pump bolt and should be attached to the in board bolt on the head, even if you have to use a s pacer, some alts do need at times. If the picture of my alt. set up is here, you will see the OEM bracket attached by 2 bolts and the aftermarket adjustment, swivel adjuster, great adjuster but expensive. In any event you can see I hope where the original adjustment bracket attaches to the bracket bolt and not the water pump bolt.I hope this helps.
