Your Edelbrock Torker is a square bore single plane manifold correct?

I have a stock 350 with correct intake and carb. Rochester 7042203. Once I found someone to rebuild it to specs, which entailed a trip to southern California for the carb, it runs VERY well for what I'm doing with it. Your choices are slim for something else. Carter AFB is one "IF"you can find one. The other is a Holley. Keep us in the loop, as to what you decide.

Yes I noticed that Jegs had Rochester carburetors. I was wondering if that would give me good stock drivability. I am not looking for super performance. I want my wife to be able to get in it and go with no issues. Thanks

The Rochesters are spread bores, if you have a square bore manifold the spread bore carb will not work. You may also have a hood clearance problem with the torquer.

I personally would ditch the Torker manifold for a dual plane manifold since the engine is stock. Here is a video that'll explain the differences.

A stock type spread bore carb and intake would be my choice.

You could go with an LT-1 style aluminuminum manifold with a Holley carb, but I hate Holley carbs for street use.
Personally, I think the best choice would be the later L82 aluminuminum manifold, with the Quadrajet carb. Bolts on, and shouldn't have any hood clearance issue at all. my .00002  Big smile

Here's another vote for q-jet.  Assuming they're re-built properly with a good kit and all the right stuff done to 'em  (i.e. new bushings for the primary throttle shaft if necessary) you can't beat 'em for street-ability.  And they're not too bad on mileage since the giant secondaries only kick in when you get into it a bit.  (That is if you can avoid getting into it too often.  Tongue)

Can't remember, do the regular old E-brock performers (dual plane) fit under stock hoods with stock air cleaners?  I think it's close if remember correctly.  Performer is probably easier to find than the L-82 aluminum......

Talk to SARGE about F.I.  He's the pro. I love my Q-jet. It IS done right, but cost me some pennies, LOTS. Works well!  I'm getting about 17-18 MPG.

Q-jets are my favorite.  I tried a Holley Q-jet replacement back in 1980 when they hit the market....I cannot remember it's name?  Anyway, gas mileage was off big time and it did not have the same power under wide open throttle.

Here is a new FI company about to debut.  I think their website goes public soon.  Sounds a lot cheaper than the current FI conversion units.

Did you just go with the $995 throttle body, or did you also go with the $500 sump pump (or whatever it's called)?

Actually, I went with the ?1200 model that comes with the nitrous plate. I also got the non sump fuel pump. Looking forward to it. They would only take a deposit because of the newness. Hopefully it will ship soon. Thanks
