Hey Guys - Went underhood this evening:
POR15 engine paint: I let the paint cure a week between coats and a few weeks after the last coat.
The heat riser valve: Thank you for the pic, Adam's. Found it. While the car is cold, there is a bit of "Stickiness" to the valve, but it does move. When the car is hot, it moves freely, no stickiness at all. Hopefully that is a good thing! A friend of mine said that someone probably changed the intake gasket at some point and did not include the "metal restrictor plates", but it will be fine. Said to paint the area a few more times and it should be good...could this be true?
Sputtering gas, running issues: No overheating. No gas shooting from carb, and in my opinion the car runs and idles great. I do not race the car around often at all so I cannot really comment on sluggishness. The only issue I seem to still experience is the dieseling when I turn off the car ONLY after a good hard run. Adam's, I believe this is the issue you were thinking of. I readjusted the carb today and hopefully that will stop the dieseling...unless there's something else I can check? It started raining so I couldn't take the car out to test for dieseling.
RedWoman - Thank you very much!! I'm really proud of the results! And thank you for the generous offer on the cap! I'll gladly take you up on that offer :) I will try to give you a call this weekend and send you a PM as well. My plan for the car is to keep it as original as possible. I would love for NCRS to look it over and judge it once to see where I stand and take it from there as finances allow. Honestly, show quality or not, just having it in the garage makes me a very happy man! The only thing I really care about is making it safe for when my son takes it over.
I think I addressed all of your points. Thanks again, All!
Jason

You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like you'd say to somebody: You're gonna like this guy, he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us. You understand?"
