I know that I can trace this out but  I bet I get a quicker answer here.  During a vacuum test where they pump smoke into the system this had smoke coming out of it.  I'm assuming this should not be vented to the outside world when the car engine is off.  But depending on what it is that may be the normal state.  Do not know could use help in identification and an explanation of what it is for.  I'm also betting that I will not be able to find a replacement if it is broken so the other question is what happens if I just plug the vacuum line?

Gilbert....can you get a shot from a little farther out? Not really sure what I'm looking at, but it appears to be the vacuum solenoid for the cruise control....need a shot showing a little more of the area to be sure.

I believe you are correct.  That mean the worst case is I can plug it the best case is I can find a replacement.  I'm guessing it is not suppose to vent to the outside at any time.

Depends...it should hold vacuum until the brake pedal is pushed, then it dumps vacuum.....assuming it IS the vac dump solenoid for the cruize control.

I think it is the fuel vapor solenoid.  From what I could find on the net the cruise control doesn't have anything that looks like this I also traced out some line and they do not go to what I think is the cruise control.

By the way I do not believe this solenoid is available anywhere so that mean I have to plug it I guess.  Does anyone have a drawing of the system.  I found part of what I think is the out put from the solenoid and it is attached to a vacuum hose but There is nothing attached to the other end.
