Well, finally got a ROUND TUIT last night and decided to swap out the old points for a Pertronix module and Flamethrower coil.  I mean, just how tuff could that be????  Ten minutes, max, right?

I musta dropped every teeny tiny screw I could and the engine ate them all!  None to be found.  The old magnet kept coming up empty.  Had to dig through my cans of H/W to find replacements.

Then I thought I lost a distributor weight spring -- finally found the little sucker.  Then the rubber boot did not fit the new coil (too large I guess). Kept popping off!  Ya think I would have another plug wire boot laying around, but no . . . .  Of course they are custom Taylor wires.

Ever tried to replace the rubber grommet in the bottom of the distributor?  That's good for a few laughs.  Even coined a few new blue words. Shocked

Finally gotterdun and the car started (wonder of wonders).  Idles rough at about 500 rpm (too low), so I will need to time it (another issue) and play with the carb (wonder what can go wrong there?!).  Guess I'll run it on the road this afternoon to check it out.

Well . . . what else can I find to play with?????  Thanx for letting me rant.  I feel mo' betta.

We enjoy the reading Mike. That episode sounds all too familiar. Thank goodness it doesn't go that way on every project.

Glad your sense of humor is still intact after that. Sometimes a good laugh at ourselves is the best medicine after a tough goround in the garage.
Isn't it amazing how those blue words just come so easily at a time like that? Man! You should hear me when I get goin'!
Hopefully the timing and carb issues will go smooth. Keep us posted.
